We are on the only path available to us, be patient with the youth and gradually improving elsewhere.

We have to accept the errors from the young players, it’s just a shame some of our seniors aren’t playing great.

On my earlier point, I think once you’ve worked out their best position and that they have the can do attitude, then you play them in the position that benefits the team most.

I’d hope we can still avoid it this year and begin to climb the ladder next year, realistically probably top eight in 2026 would be my most optimistic prediction.

Richo does seem to be trying to do it all? Maybe justified his high contract by reducing staff numbers eg Fulton’s position?
Were there any results on the UK trip?
Reports suggest that a couple of clubs are interested in Bateman but Bateman is reluctant to leave. Meanwhile Raiders have picked up a handy back rower from the UK.

Parra won 8 spoons over a 10 year period so by my calculations we may just have enough time to fit in a 5 year plan before we eclipse Parramatta's record.

The only thing that worries me is that I don't think we have ever gotten through a 5 year plan without changing it and going off on some sort of a tangent and Richo is only contracted for 4 years so our chances of seeing through a 5 year plan look a little slim at best.

❌ Any 30 additions which were made prior to July 1
❓ Experienced assistant coach added to the club for season 2025
❓ Stef commits
❓ New major sponsor for 2025+
❓ Release of players for 2025 (to free up roster spots for any new signings for '25)

I for one thought we'd have filled the board positions by now & would have been able to announce at least 1 pathways signing.

PS. I have seen regular announcements on Instagram from player agents about elite young players signing with clubs (either into top 30 or pathways deals) but nothing about Tigers juniors in months.

It's July 22 and still no news on any of the above with ❓

The 'kids' aren't the problem.

It's the 'senior' players who aren't up to standard. The ones Benji picks week in week out regardless.

Surely Richo can understand that we need to buy some more experienced guys to cover like 2-3 years until the young guys are up and running.
Doing it with all these young kids is just burning them up and all this losing makes them and their manager look elsewhere. (don't blame them)
Plus this is a massive disadvantage when recruiting when you are consistently on the bottom.

Time to wake up and buy some hard nose players to help the club win more games so we keep these juniors and make the fans happy.

Totally agree hsvjones, i don't think being a development club is doing us any favors at all. Until we start bringing in 1st grade standard players we will always be a bottom 4 side. And if that does not work let them go , gee it seems to be working at the Bulldogs and i would be very happy if that was us in the top 8.

Not to discredit his achievements or show a lack of faith in his abilities to execute our short-term plans, but I believe Richo might need to delegate the task of recruiting players to replace those leaving and to strengthen the squad. This should be a top priority and may require bringing in someone highly skilled and successful in recruitment (though I’m not sure who that might be at the moment). I also feel it is equally urgent that Richo’s attention shift to finding the right coaching staff for Benji and focusing on assisting Betsey with the club’s Junior Pathways framework.

Our junior talent pipeline needs to be the best it can be, which includes having top-notch coaches at that level. It’s really disappointing to see that we’re losing promising juniors.
As a so-called development club, effective recruitment and a strong junior development system go hand in hand and are both crucial for maintaining squad depth and ensuring the efficient development of future talent. But right now, nothing suggests we are on top of things in this area (juniors).

I posted two team lists a few weeks back and was surprised to read a lot of forumers’ comments on the number of juniors playing out of position, rather than in their natural positions, and how the development of some of them is being hindered by this. It’s things like this that concern me, as we should be better at managing this by now given our history with losing juniors to poor succession planning.
