Free(ish) reign is often one of the prices you pay for getting really experienced people running your club.

It would be exactly the same if Gould, Bennett or Bellamy were at the club.

That's true to a point.

But it's reasonable that people ask questions.

Shane will be judged on his results but the problem is if things don't work out he'll just retire...........and we could be left negotiating with Luai and Galvin simultaneously whilst in competition with new franchises.

Luckily I feel we will get results but the risks are there.

But l suppose we have to take them.

But accountability for Shane must begin now because all the risks are on us.

What are the parameters?
Personally I think finals are not a stretch too far. I dont blame the roster alone for the past 2 spoons. I think both squads and sets of coaching staff underperformed and deserve kicks up the arse for the poor returns.
Im sceptical the coaching staff can turn it around, therefore Im banking on the squad to lift and play to their potential.
I’ve already outlined what I think success looks like. Keep improving our win record by 50% and we play finals in 2026.

Nine wins would be acceptable to me if we also establish an identity.

The Dolphins are probably a comparable case study. They obviously have had a better coach, signed a lot of first grade standard players from strong clubs. They have an identity yet they still missed finals two years running.

Most people will tell you the Dolphins have had a pretty solid 2 years, myself included.

Top eight has to be the pass mark and I think it is achievable of we have a good run in the injury stakes. Even though our depth has been improved I think we are light on in edges and centres. Take a hit there and we could end up lower on the ladder and it coudl still be considered a successful year for the coaching staff.

3 more wins than 2024? That would have placed us 13th.
You would be happy with that?
Ok then I agree, lets see if you maintane that opinion.
I’d be disappointed but I don’t think it would be a deviation from the plan that Richo keeps talking about. We have a young squad with poor depth.

Remember whilst Steve Noyce was at the Roosters just after Brian Smith got sacked he reiterated that top 8 in a 16 team competition is really a minimum passmark expectation.

Our squad should be good enough to aim for that given a decent run with injuries.

Given our recent problems in that area what's been done by Shane re fitness/strength and conditioning?

Maybe also it's time for the club to introduce fines for disciplinary problems around sin bins etc as has been done elsewhere. This was a massive last year.

First year for a while that I expect some improvement for next season. Never rated the team this year and like always hoped for the best but expected the worst based on the lack of depth and talent compared to every other team in the competition.
If you have no hope don't know why you bother. Speculating means jack in the off season cause no one is right or wrong.

Ok so if we not in the barber biz then what are we gunna use that space for?

I reckon we should put up one of those pass through the hole boards which a Tim Sheens plaque on it.

Or maybe we better keep as empty as we are gunna need the room for all the trophies 🏆.
