CEO - Shane Richardson

So a person is usually contracting with a club or association for a reason.

Broadly speaking, to obtain a point of difference by way of a good or service.

And more intangibly, a sense of union or togetherness for common goal.

In our case, something mild such as being genuinely competive for most seasons and eveb win a grand final one day.

But at the moment, while weve paid and been loyal to the club ( even if we criticise it), they dont seem to give much back.

They even ignore us.

I can get about 95% of the membership benefits without being a member.

You need to remember its not really a membership....its a season ticket, a reserved seat at the game in some cases. we dont have real memberships
Yes, great point.

But we misrepresent what a membership is in advertising and so forth.

It seems to be little more than a means of grifting or fleecing people to sell a non ticketed membership.

I think we can do more with it. We conplaiin about player managers but our own snout is stuck firmly in the trough sometimes.

And battlers who scrimp and save for memberships, its not fair on them.

If you read my posts @westtigers, you will find that i do not abuse other posters personally so generally speaking, i dont like to be abused either.

Then if its a bad experience, i just leave.

I just left another forum for that reason.

It doesnt matter to the lifers or rank or file, no one is indispensable.
I never abused you. Not sure where you got that from. In fact the catalyst was "so you're going to email Richo then?"

Hardly can call that abuse.

Cracks are starting to show with Richo for me.

The recruitment last year was great but a few challenges this year.

Losing Large brothers, and Galvin
TDS might follow

Lots of work to do.
I appreciate its not a contest, but Im much more concerned about Benji capabilities than Richo tbh.

Richo could scrub up quite a bit, but hes still well and truly operational.

Richo secured most of the players Benji and his crew wanted for this seasons first grade plus May for Christmas.

If they are wrong players or lack the temperament or ability, thats on Benji and his crew.

Whatever some of our in house issues, Richo has some enormous strengths and some powerful friends.

Hes the same as each of us. We are good at some things but not others.

Yes plus the pack is weakened letting 4 starters go and not replacing them all...we have depth guys starting every week. He is under the pump currently.

If he can’t turn this slump around then yes, he’ll be in trouble.
It wont be easy because ot appears that hes played his cards right with most of the squad.

And regrettably Richo bought into the Benji love language early when he might have stayed more aloof.

The Galvin affair has helped Benjis prospects of an extended tenure no end.

His sacking at the end of the season, even if justified, could be seen as an admission that Galvins bad humour and criticism of Benji was in fact warranted.

And as a club on the matey, the shame of it, would be too much to swallow. Too many snouts disturbed.

People just dont like admitting mistakes. We will find that out in the mid season review.

The end of Benji would be best seen by the rugby league public as voluntary.

Ergo, he will have to hold a press conference and announce his voluntary resignation ( even he got the tap on the shoulder).

There will be a deal and he will be quietly rewarded. He may have to sign a NDA and conduct himself in a manner suggesting his goose wasnt cooked.

Its not Benjis fault, but he was appointed on the mate, there was no due diligence, other previous applicants were turned away,

Tim got carried away with himself and dragged him in, Lee duffed his fedora.

Benji didnt do a proper apprenticeship, he had no experience and so to some extent we shouldnt be surprised he is struggling.

I reject any suggestion hes not trying or doesnt have the best of intent.

Hes just not cutting it at the moment.Benji would be more aware of this than anyone. But we dont see enough change and accountability, thats my personal view.

Hes in a tough situation, but at what point does sympathy and good will run out?

Ive said for awhile, it seems to me that he needs proper help outside the club circle.

Agree with a lot of that tho its a bit premature to be talking of getting the tap imo....
We are halfway thru the season and teams like parra and dolphins are playing some beautiful attacking footy but i havent seen that enough from us...our forwards have been dominated lately and the backs clunky because of it..Galvin overplaying ...Luai looks confused...poor depth

Hopefully all the distracting noise and a sense of everyone on the same.page once galvingates done can see an improvement in the back half of the year
NQ, Manly Titans all winnable imo and we play all twice... and maybe an upset here or there.
Its been an up and down year for just about all teams....our poor history gnaws away at the back of.my head but need to see some.positive signs soon...the back end of the souths game was a bit of a start.
But some positive signings....more fluidity in attack and more resolve in defence is needed urgently

Exactly. As it stands, we were going reasonably well and it's only the Galvin thing that's derailed us a bit.

Benji deserves the rest of the season before the pitchforks come out.

Jebus we turn on peeps quick.

Richo so far has done a tonne more right then wrong. We have been whinging about our playing groups lack of quality for years. So far he is sweeping the broom through. As much as it hurts it takes a year or two to get that right.
He has cut excess around the place, staff waste etc.
He has been pretty forthright with his communication.
He seems to be keeping the board in check.
People don't know everything that is happening in side the inner circle.

I think he is doing great personally.

Also I think benji is doing great. The team play for him which is huge. They backed him ferverously when he was slandered.
Now it's on him and richo to get the players he needs and imo an x's and o's coach. Wish we had kept Gardiner but things happen.

We are heading in the right direction i think and o literally can't remember the last time I felt that.

2nd half of the season is the litmus test, with Galvin gone we will find out if Benji makes the cut.

Well put. This club needs to stay the course for once and not cave to outsiders. We’ve lost a talented 19 year old but we’re building a competitive team, not time to blink.
