CEO - Shane Richardson

You can only use it as a compromise if the other side (HBG) values it…. Hey if that’s actually the case ..then go for you life …I suspect it doesn’t mean much to them when it comes to giving up control of the NRL team though
If they didn’t or don’t agree to that type of compromise I would join the chorus of fans that no longer want them involved with Wests Tigers in any way and demand they sell the club,
I reckon you would be surprised of how many would share this opinion and join me.

I don’t think they particularly care what people think… there has been nothing logical about their actions this past week

For me it’s an ultimatum, remove the clique currently within HBG, reinstate the independent board format and only if that is not agreed on, then HBG Out.
But the current NSW Cup set up is non negotiable and does not change unless there is good reason to change into the future.
Sorry V but who really cares about the reserve grade team, only the diehards at Lidcombe oval shouting Magpies, Magpies to try and keep the dream alive.

I still believe all the grades should be Wests Tigers allowing anything else just lets the sore fester.

HBG dropped the bomb, they have rolled the dice and with a little luck it will deliver snake eyes risking everything, that includes their reserve grade team.

I’m not commenting about what was supposedly posted as I’m not across those details … but Whether the account was the companies or a his own makes . no difference as far as your employer is concerned … have you never had to sign one of these ? You must be a long time retired then because they have been around a while
I wish I was retired.

There's always clauses about not subjecting the business to 'disrepute' etc. I'll be honest- it's never really been a concern. I also keep a work & personal phone separate.

Listened to the Bye Round Podcast with Chammas - found it fascinating. I’ve been a massive Richo fan but after listening to that I can see there may have been issues and we have all gobbled up the PR campaign. Praying this may be the case and this smooths over quickly

I heard Bennett say when at the Dragons he likes the reserve grade team playing similar structures to the first grade team so when the player is called into first it's better for everyone
They have been doing that at the Roosters for a long time. The Nrl main structure is coached all the way down to Harold Matts. Most clubs do this now

you are spot on here....from what I have heard from various posters on here he is sharing HBG content on the same account he is following 100+ Only Fans accounts....This is where it becomes a legitimate issue for HBG, once you share content from your professional life it is no longer just a personal account. The commentary about stalking is not accurate, these accounts are there to share this data...so in a sense they are supposed to be stalked i.e. you are advertising to others what your interests are. He could have easily set up a dummy account and connected to as much weird shit as he liked, the fact he didn't do it reflects either an attitude where he doesn't give a shit and thinks he can do what he wants and thinks he is untouchable, or he is too unprofessional and stupid to know better. Either way not a good look at all for a person who is CHAIRMAN of HBG and on the Wests Tigers board.

He started at 9th and went backwards all the way to last … but mentioning Pascoe is not answering my question though is it ? You blokes just live in the past…

Just be honest and admit that you do not want this current team to have success

We don't even know what Success is... But we all want it, I can promise you.

Speaking of former administrators, I've always been a bit on the fence - with all of them.
I always thought the problems of this Club ran deeper than a CEO, a Chair, A Coach, A Captain and to a
point, The Playing Group.

I still feel there's is something in that, But still don't really know what it is.

I'm starting to think maybe it's Culture,
The Club (From top to bottom) also doesn't know what success is,
nor does anyone who's been part of it for any fixed time.
Probably why those who land here and do know what it looks like,
Don't last.

Youre tipping?
Its been reported widely dennis' position is under threat...id imagine a few others also
I called out on this forum a week ago right after the independents were punted. Sad thing is they may have blown up our club, team and season just to knife Burgess. They probably used his votes supporting the stadiums and jersey to push him into a corner and force him to dissolve the board, knowing that this would blow up in his face and they may be able to force him out. I just hope that if its true and he is really getting punted than maybe it will be a better longer term outcome for the WT.

Long term?

Not sure you understand how far this has all just set us back.

Sounds like they are playing 4D chess … I don’t think they are that smart

I agree with the first part.
Some disagree and are adamant our NSW Cup team must be Wests Tigers, even though Brisbane and Melbourne do not feel the need to have their feeder teams replicate the name of their NRL team.
As for the debenture system, I am very sketchy on how it exactly works, but my understanding their is a current t clique involving 3 of 4 internationals who are currently in control and the others have not yet reached that status.
I’m tipping there is a huge chance of an internal challenge as a result of the recent events.
The debenture system has been explained multiple times. but I think people are very confused by it all. I will do my best to explain because it might stop some of the theories that circulate.

--------------------------

What is HBG?
HBG is simply a registered club that "owns" Wests Ashfield and associated clubs, like Croydon Sports Club etc. More accurately, HBG members are the "owners"...but no one really "owns" anything in the true sense of the word...if all assets were sold and the organisation was dissolved, no one would receive any financial benefit. Any cash remaining would, by law, need to be transferred to another registered club or related non-profit. It does not distribute dividends, profits or capital gains like a company would. For simplicity, it is far easier to describe it as control over assets rather than ownership as we know it.

Financial incentive is not a driving factor for HBG powerbrokers.

--------------------------

What is a "Debenture Holder"?
When the club was established, a limited number of individuals subscribed funds. These were secured by “debentures.” Those individuals became “Debenture Holders.” Under the constitution, a maximum of 20 debenture holders can exist at any one time.

A debenture holder is a structural position, not a board position. Debenture-holders hold a privileged, constitutionally entrenched status unless they transfer their debenture or are removed for conduct related issues. Their status isn’t based on annual membership votes, but on original subscribed funds + board-approved transfer rules. The club constitution anchors it.

Debentures are not transferable without consent of the board. and can only be transferred to persons who are members of the Club. the board is made up of 7 people. 5 board seats are reserved for debenture holders. The majority voting bloc is debenture holders.

--------------------------

So...out of 20 people, 5 will sit on the board at any one time and 15 will have no say. These 20 people compete for the 5 power seats on the board constantly. This is a source of infighting and instability as the competing factions try to gain power on the board and impose their will. Romero implemented the review...Burgess, who is now the chair, undid it all....this has been on rinse and repeat for years. Wests (the rugby league club) and Balmain don't really have anything to do with it.

They are not like a traditional owner would who invested millions in capital and can do what they want. These guys have managed to control power of a multi-million dollar organisation that is supposed to be member-owned, yet 20 people control all the voting power and cannot be voted out.

That is where the outrage comes from.

I pray they punt the HBG, break the debenture holder model and/or sell the club, however I am also quite pragmatic and try to find any semblance of a silver lining. I don't necessarily believe the next debenture holder that replaces Burgess will be any better than him...they may even be worse, however without change things remain the same. Perhaps someone else in that role may be a bit more savvy or have more care about the success of the football team. I don't care if they have wet dreams about magpies all night, every night, i just want the Wests Tigers to be the best they can be.

In terms of how far it has set us back, i would say Benji and the boys will have a say in that based on how they perform next year.
