The debenture system may have been a good idea 70 years ago, but there’s more money at stake now that the NRL is covering the lions share of costs, and clubs are more profitable.

No point having an independent board when the majority of the board are directly affiliated with HBG. The board isn’t independent then.

PVL / HBG provided a perception activity today that doesn’t achieve anything. It also highlights HBG BS with their media spin they tried to do. What a total shit show HBG are.

I’m assuming PVL put his guidelines in place and I’m assuming the independent board members that are returning must agree with the guidelines, otherwise they would not agree to come back on the board would they ?

That’s one way to look at it. Another is that he’s no longer in control of an NRL club. For us punters, 1.5 million in the pocket might be great. For a career businessmen who has run several successful clubs, and was in the process of trying to turn this around, it probably stings a little.

Who knows what his plans were …He has his own gig …maybe he was always happy to go back to that sooner than later

I agree that the way this ended may hurt his ego,,, given his past success and what he said on Day 1 here … taking the club to 13th won’t be a career highlight
