CEO wants top 4 next season

With the current squad I don't feel that top 4 is at all achievable. Not to discredit the teams potential, but we need to improve exponentially to keep up with the competition.

There are so many teams now on the up.. Storm are ever consistent, Sharks should continue good form, Cowboys are a champion side and would be hard pressed to miss the top 4.. But then there's Panthers, Titans, and Raiders who all have huge potential and are really kicking into gear already. We'll be up against it next season, that's for sure.

if we had all 900k of farahs money then i would feel a lot more confident we could recruit a whitehead or josh jackson over the summer and make the top 6 and push for top 4.

sure we didnt hit the target of top 8 this year, but hey we were 1pt away. a field goal against the titans a few weeks ago or against melbourne or not losing to the worst team in NRL history (the knights) would have seen us straight in

without them, i think top 8 is achievable. im really liking brooks (yes i know), moses and tedesco.

give em an off season to recover, train and develop even more and i think they will come out all guns blazing in 2017 while helping guide liddle into FG.

Well the only teams i can see dropping out of the 8 next year are the bulldogs and titans. That means there will possibly be only two finals spots up for grabs next year.

I see many teams who failed this year improving next year: Manly, Souths, Roosters, parramatta and possibly even the warriors. I see us improving drastically as well in 2017, question is will we improve more then the other teams vying for a top 8 spot.

If this year told us anything, things rarely go as predicted in this area at least

No, I don't think the top four is realistic. We`don't have the overall talent, depth in the squad or experience with the current roster to finish any better than top six, which would be a creditable performance. I think there's a high ceiling among some of our young players but the talent is not spread evenly and any injuries to key players will kill us because of the lack of quality back ups. The Canberra result has provided a good yardstick as to where we really are. We still get trampled by the bigger sides and haven't yet learned how to stop self destructing when things go against us. Sixth - maybe, 4th - no.

Maybe he has some amazing signings in the pipeline…..

Our current squad as is has no chance.

Raiders will get better, Storm will be there, Sharks will be there, Panthers are getting better, Cowboys, Broncos - just can't see it unless something major happens recruitment wise.

Parra will most likely be there as well, and the Roosters will buy their way back along with Souths. It's going to be a much harder season next year.
Unless we buy some talent we are a good chance of dropping two or three spots. .

Don't know if it's right or not, but The SMH last night reported that Souths are paying. $ 250 .000
For Robbie, and we paid 750,000\. As I said, I don't know if they are right or wrong.

Well still have 2 more players who are SOO material and so go missing for weeks - to be fair get rid of them too and according to their rational we will be number one

Andrew Webster said on the Sunday Footy show that Souths were only paying $250,000 for Farah.

There is no quick fix so any improvements will be small steps. The bottom line we either need to recruit or be patient with our young kids coming through. With our cap being a shambles recruiting will be very hard unless we can move some contracts on and to do that you need other clubs to be interested in those contracts….that is highly unlikely.

Call me negative but with much the same roster 2017 will be much the same as this year at the very best and probably slip a little. The only teams I see behind us on paper are the Dragons and Knights, but of course the NRL is a funny game

Top 8 perhaps, but top 4 does not appear achievable.

However, our defense is so far off the pace that if we did make the 8 I'd say we have over achieved.

I think some people need to get their heads out of the sand … the roster we have at the moment is just not good enough for top 8, and I don't hear any talk of major signings to come. We have invested in two playmakers who undoubtedly have talent but no one to show them the way, one is brilliant but too frantic when the heat is on and the other disappears out of the game for long periods. I won't go into the failings of the rest of the team, it wouldn't be fair, they are trying their best out there, but it's just not good enough, sometimes you have to face reality. The Sea Eagles, Eels, Warriors, Easts and Souths will certainly improve big time next year, and the current top 8 do not look like they will fall in a heap, that leaves us around 12th or 13th place at best, I can only see us finishing ahead of newcastle and the dragons if they don't kick on with some big signings.

Goal should be top 4, but realistically a top 8 spot VERY achievable and once your there anything is possible

Tell him he is dreaming same squad same coach = same result but lower I see Souths, parra, chooks, manly all jumping above us next year

CEO wants top 4 next season.??
I want a Lamborghini , I'm more chance of getting that than he is on getting his way, and I'm absolutely NO chance

This side is missing an ingredient essential for a top 4 finish….ticker. Very few of them have it and it can't be learned.

8 is achievable, top 4 four is a big ask with our roster. I suppose stranger things have happened though.

Agree with what Eddie said though, if Pascoe came out and said "yeah, we'd be happy with 12th," this forum would go into meltdown. You've always got to set the bar high.

Seriously…I cant keep up....from thread to thread...We need a new coach...Our roster is crap...our roster is great just needs a few tweaks...Top 4 going backwards bottom 4..

Man Wests Tigers...

Don't worry Geo, it's only from the same posters every time.
I read these derogatory posts too then look at the posters name and just move on.

For the record, I have stated many times that we wouldn't make top 8 this year or next with the squad we have. In fact I stated not much would change until 2018.

Pascoe has to say this because it is the third year of the former CEOs 3 year plan.

There's a lot of player movement to come between now and rd 1 2017 - a lot of teams will be making comprehensive changes between now and then.
Whilst it's good Pascoe et al have their sights aimed high, they need to walk the walk too and make moves accordingly.
They've pushed Farah out due to his contract providing poor value, but they shouldn't stop there.

To me his team are so inconsistent. So to get anywhere next year they will have to pull their heads in and be more CONSISTENT…. :smiling_imp:

Hopefully with a different defence coach we will improve our defence as it has been quite ordinary for some years. Very disappointing.

And as someone said we NEED A WORLD CLASS GOAL KICKER. 😛ray: 😛ray:
Back to the drawing room boys, and we expect better next season :bash
