Channel Nine has experienced a decline in the Friday 8pm game ratings, something Fox Sports is well aware of and unwilling to compromise given the number of viewers who stay with Fox from the first to second Friday night game.

And there you have it...wankers..could not give a stuff about Rugby League..guess what 9..don't worry about switching channels as most never turn it on in the 1st place..

Lost Cricket to 7 ..never had AFL.. Hope Rugby League goes too... Kerry would be turning in his grave...

They did share AFL with ch 10 for a 5 seasons from 2002-2006

Lost that too when ch 10 stabbed them in the back and partnered with ch 7. Though in one of his last ever business moves Kerry Parker put in a last minute huge bid for the rights making ch 7 (who had first and last rights) and ch 10 pay massively for AFL!

Channel 9 are only in it for the money, but so are Fox. And really, the NRL administration treat rugby league like a business, so I don't know that any of the involved parties actually give a shit about the game other than how it affects their back pocket.

Agree, I highly doubt 9, Fox or the NRL are involved for the love of the game.

Not sure who this guy is but I like him.

The NRL is moving towards finalising a new broadcast deal with Channel Nine and Fox Sports that would extend the game's television partnership until at least the end of 2025.

Hugh Marks yesterday:
“The future of our businesses is in aggregated video consumption. We’re a business that actually is now less reliant on live sport and the reason for a lot of sport and it’s being was its volume contribution to free-to-air advertising.” He’s kidding if he thinks Nine can match it with the likes of Netflix. Especially when there is no reality tv content being produced at the moment. He is just anti sport. His first move after purchasing Macquarie Sports Radio was to remove the station completely replacing it with “hit” music from the 60’s and 70’s. He cited declining ratings when in fact ratings rose month by month in the footy season but dropped slightly after the footy was over. He put grown men in tears on air following that decision. Now the ratings of his music station are pitiful... Packer would be rolling in his grave.

He does not sound like the brightest of blokes based on that statement.

Ch 9 is a parasite that still believes they are important in regards to rugby league. That is nonsense, rugby league will continue with another FTA broadcaster. The ABC would be ideal with a footprint all over the country.Rugby league can and will thrive away from Ch 9 and the parasitic ch 9 will become even less relevantLets see if they can survive without their Golden Goose that is the NRL providing them their most watched product which provides their most advertising dollar.
Cut them loose and let ch 9 wither

The big problem is who do you believe in all this , Ch 9 or Fox

I read an article claiming that 9 are offering 20 million less ...but Fox is offering 50 million less

I dont believe either of them both entities are all about themselves making money and not about the sports benefit.

Can't believe either, which is why maintaining the digital arm is so important.

I recon he’s bright enough ..... but the numbers do not stack up any more. They are willing to cut an run as you’ll find a number of business supporters of NRL and Clubs revise their priorities.

Times they are changing mate.

Fox are bleeding money and they are working in the background just as hard as 9 on ways to reduce costs.
They are just playing a good guy at present. Don’t trust them or anything that comes out of their media outlets.

I don't watch 9 , but Fox have really been sticking the boot into 9

9 are just acting in self interest as is NRL and Fox. Nothing super interesting to me. Just business people doing business people things.

Its all just bluster isn't it. There's no truth reported about the broadcasters by the broadcasters themselves.
