Of course I have seen him play. He was pitiful at Cronulla and seems to be holding his own at the Warriors. Townsend is no gun. It helps that he has SJ and a monster pack but he will be average if he goes back to Cronulla.

Pass!! Money (if any) better spent on back rowers, a centre etc before a 5/8!!

A few good games doesn't make an accomplished player in my view (maybe a few seasons). I would barely call him an established first grader.
For example you may call someone like Robson an accomplished NRL player? I wouldn't…..Townsend is in this bracket in my view. He hasn't even played 50 games yet in 5 seasons and I have seen him play more bad games then good. He and Drinkwater probably have similar ability.
Maybe a difference of opinion in either our view of what successful is or our assessment of Townsend's ability, probably both. Can we agree to disagree?
Thankfully our hierarchy have a similar view of his ability vs Moses.

2\. More nitpicking than anything else, but he's a halfback not a 5/8th. Just because he wears 6, he's the one that players first receiver and Johnson second receiver more so.
3\. He's hardly been one of the form halves this year. Could easily rattle off about 10-15 who have been better. Blake Austin, who we actually had last year and eschewed in favour of our youngsters, is however one of the form halves.
4\. Following on from the previous point, there's 0 chance we sign him because we've committed to Brooks/Moses and if we hadn't have, we certainly would've kept Austin last year.
5\. Brooks and Moses are signed through to 2017 to the best of my knowledge, likely with back-loaded deals. Paying 3 halves first grade money when the rest of our team isn't up to scratch isn't particularly wise.
