Please tell me that we are making a play for him. He would be a great asset.

Townsend confirms Sydney NRL move
Sat 16 May, 2015, 7:17pm
By Matt Encarnacion, AAP
Warriors five-eighth Chad Townsend says he's in no rush to decide which Sydney club he'll sign with when his contract finishes up at the end of the season.

Townsend confirmed he has informed the Warriors he won't be re-signing due to personal reasons and wants to return home to Sydney.

The former Cronulla playmaker has already been linked with a return to the Shire, although Manly are also scouring the market to replace outgoing halves Kieran Foran and Daly Cherry-Evans.

"Due to some personal circumstances, I've gone to the club and told them my priority would be to move back to Sydney," he said…......blah blah blah

GET HIM!!

Why would we sign him, the club has clearly said that Moses and Brooks are the future.

Bird and Towsend would be a cracker pairing for Sharks.

I suppose I was just posting this as a legit alternative to Moses - who is clearly not the flavour of the month.
I hope Moses comes good, but at this stage an experienced 5/8 might actually see us contend.

Anyone who thinks Townsend isn't worth it obviously hasn't seen any Warriors games this year. No doubt that the Warriors will be worse off without him next year, even despite their great signings.

With the exception of Thurston, Townsend is arguably the form 5/8 this year.

Fully. This has to be one of the worst decisions tigers have made in ages. He was possibly our most threatening attacker last year.

This raised Alarm bells!

He got too good for the Tigers!

Well where will Carney be heading this time also ??

Carney's still under contact with Le Catalans and there is no get out clause apparently, and would the NRL register him if he was to return.
In the case of Austin it was his decision to leave and the Tigers didn't stand in his way, perhaps he could have had a round of golf with Robbie before committing himself to the Raiders.

There's some irony here for me…

Townsend- moderate ability - was way more rocks than diamonds when at the Sharks. In fact, I thought he wasn't going to cut it in NRL. Now has 50-60 odd games under his belt and is playing to that moderate ability. Blake Austin is a similar story.

Mitchell Moses has way more ability than Austin and Townsend....

Doesn't it make sense for us to be patient, support Mitch and let him serve his 50 - 60 game apprenticeship?

Carney won his wrongful dismissal case

The NRL can't stop him from coming back

Apparently Townsend is as good as done at Manly even though Newcastle have made a late play for his services. As for Austin he asked for a release the Tigers didn't get rid of him.
