Injury Report
Wests Tigers can provide the following Chemist Warehouse injury update with the start of the 2017 NRL season just three weeks away.

Luke Brooks has been withdrawn from tomorrow’s night trial match against St George Illawarra with hamstring tightness, however the halfback is hopeful of being available for next Friday night’s trial against North Queensland.

Young hooker Jacob Liddle suffered a shoulder injury at training and is expected to miss both trial matches, however Club medical staff are aiming to have him fit for either round one or two.

Prop forward Taniela Paseka will sit this weekend out with a shoulder injury, however the 19-year-old is likely to be available for next weekend’s trial games.

In positive injury news, Matt Ballin is back in full contact training and is on track to return in the opening rounds of the 2017 season.

Bayley Sironen will return to the field this weekend after a lengthy stint on the sideline with a shoulder injury, with the backrower set to take on the Dragons in Wollongong.

Junior Tatola will also make his return this weekend with the Intrust Super Premiership after a lengthy stint on the sideline with an ankle injury.

Ryland Jacobs had off-season arthroscopic surgery on his knee and will be available for selection in Round 1.

Geez imagine the meltdown if Ballin and Liddle were both unfit come round 1 and Rankin filled in at hooker

Matt McIlwrick is an 80min player..

Holy cowpad lightning may strike 2 years running with no hooker available….JLJ and McIlwrick isn't the winning option IMO. We are just jinxed I reckon.

And the bunnies beat us.
What a wonderful mega thread that would be. Lol

I'm not sure why any of that is funny. Possibly for supporters of other teams then it becomes almost hilarious

Overall it's not a bad situation for the club. I'd suggest starting either Rankin or JLJ at 9 if Liddle and Ballin are both unavailable in round 1.

Surely if both Ballin and Liddle are unavailable then McIllwrick would get a start? Otherwise IMO it was a complete waste of money and a roster spot signing him. He is the 3rd string hooker and yet he wouldn't even get a run if choice number 1 or 2 aren't available? Sounds like classic Wests Tigers!

Is Mcillwick even in the top 25?

Here we go JLJ and ET to share.

Not sure if McIllwrick is in the top 25\. But even still, not sure of the logic behind signing a specialist hooker if he is never gonna get a go even when the 2 best hookers in the club are unavailable, what is the point of signing him? JLJ did a mediocre job of filling in at the start of last season but I think some people are reading a bit much into the fact that we won while he was filling in. Probably just coincidence.

I'm sure you've spent a lot of time watching McIlwrick play and are in a great position to judge his quality and capacity to play 80 minutes…

Reckon we'll play Mckilwrick

Then next day's headline 'weststigers 4m over the cap due to clause in Kyle Lovett contract that says if Mckilwrick plays 80mins then Robbie Farah gets 66% of Wests Ashfield monthly pokie turnover'

Ahhhh tigers <3

Is scary about Ballin. Was due back early last season, ended up missing the 1st 10 weeks or so, and then when he did play he could hardly stay on the field. I hope there are not setbacks this year.

Ballin - VC after 40 mins of footy for the club - everything about his signing does not sit well with me - and yet he seems to have fan support for offering next to nothing.
He may be great off the field but he takes up part of the cap and he is paid to play in our top 25.
If he has brilliant year all good but already it seems pretty clear there will be limitations on what he can offer.

i wouldnt be to confident of him playing much this year he came here busted and we are paying the full freight on his contract now.Hope i am wrong about him playing much football.

I would love to see Marshall-King come off the bench with both hookers out.

Considering our yearly 2nd tier salary cap problems, best to avoid playing anyone who won't be in the side on a regular basis.
