Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well Saukuru could well be directly opposite Moses Suli in NSW Cup on Sunday, good test.

Speed is not the right description for what he had

He represented NSW in track and I think he ran 100 200 and 400 from memory all from St Greg's Campbelltown

From a standing start he went from zero to top speed in a blink of an eye

His defence was terrible at the beginning but he fixed it

Just an outright champion

And just so tough and I can not remember any foul play at all
What a great player Chris was.

He's got serious defensive issues - Centre is not an easy position to defend and you can't put that sort of pressure and expectation on an 18 year old kid, who, let's be honest, was playing schoolboy rugby less than 12 months ago. He needs a lot of work....like a lot of work. He is so far behind what people thought from the trials. He was up against reserve graders for the most part and looked good - NSW Cup is his level at this stage in his career.
I don’t mind the age thing
- as long as there’s experience guidance out there.
You can put a kid in the centres if you have a switched on footballer inside and or outside them.
For literally years - this has been out archillis heal, we’re so blasé about it!!
See other clubs bringing kids in under the guidance of the Morris Twins, a Luke Lewis or Wade Graham.
more recently a Chrichton or Capewell, we jam 3 blokes side by side in the line with a dozen games between them and think it will all be ok because
‘they’re good kids’ it’s infuriating!!

Been said a thousand times, but our development for the last couple decades almost has been abysmal.
Some say it’s getting better, I’m not so sure… even now - do we have an NRL standard senior outside backs player in our squad?

Unfortunately it happens a lot as they are depth we have when injuries hit.

Makasini’s defence is already better than Chris Lawrence’s defence was when he was 18.

As others have mentioned he’s one of many of the team playing injured, and once he’s injury free and confident again he won’t look back IMO.
Only if he drops back and learns his trade and the club remains patient.
The kid shows pretty much zero knowledge of where to position himself in attack or defence and he has bad hands.
Dreadful start to his career.

Overwhelmed maybe?
He certainly isn't playing like he did against the Panthers pre season.
He knocked back a contract extension back then as the wolves all circled to coax him away from the tigers, his chest was really sticking out after the hit ‘n’ run on Edwards … then reality set in and nobody came knocking as he blundered his way through a few games - so he extended and it’s a good chance for him to develop with the added security - I have to say his mind doesn’t seem to be on the job a lot of the time, his confidence is shot - might get some back against the cellar dwellers today.
