Wests Tigers v Auckland Warriors
Round two, 2000
Foundation clubs Balmain and Western Suburns formed a joint venture, and Tigers legend Wayne Pearce was handed the reins as coach. And the new side took plenty of confidence into their match against the Warriors after drawing with Brisbane Broncos in round one. The thrilling game had plenty of drama, including a sending-off and a controversial video referee decision that had a huge influence on the outcome.

If Owen Craigie had 1/2 of Hodgo's passion he would have been an absolute gun. If McCracken hadn't been speared later in the year,Wests Tigers would not have endured those ugly years from 01-03.

Ohh!! I was a non football supporter in the 90's and early 2000's. Watched tonights game and was glad for the abyss. Hill. Hopoate, Field (and his efforts to win the game etc)…would send a Tigers supporter to drink.
Interesting to see how young many of theWarriors were and how long they lasted.
Bring on 2010

I reallyy enjoyed it….......what muppets we bought from Manly!!!!!!

And great to see Buckets and Stimson looking young and Darren Senter giving it his all including plenty of lip service.

Id forgotten how good he was.

Throw Caine's goalkicking in there too! Makes me thankfull we got Benji

It must of been an off night because I remember him being a reasonable goalkicker.

Its funny, I was 11 yrs old when that game was played and back then I thought Shane Walker was an absolute monster of a prop. But after watching that match he seemed a lot smaller then I thought lol.

The standards have really improved since then, you just have to look at Jason Death's field goal attempt to tie it up, or the constant grubbering and chip kicks by Craig Field.

Craig Field was one of the worst halfbacks ever. He got a reputation at Souths because he tried so hard and would do the odd good thing in a terrible side. Because Souths were so bad, people would say "poor Field, he only makes those mistakes because he's trying so hard in a crap side, he wouldnt make those mistakes in a good side". Problem was, he went to a great side in Manly and made even more mistakes, then did the same thing for us. The guy was a hack of the highest order.

mguiness was killing it all night, good to see a young skandalis and who can forget steve georgallis.i still cant believe wayne pearce settled for joel caine over brett hodgson. tragedy. after we lost mcracken we lost momentum. what a difference tim sheens has made to the club since those days. imagne if we had belly ache.
