CHOOSEDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Craig Field was one of the worst halfbacks ever. He got a reputation at Souths because he tried so hard and would do the odd good thing in a terrible side. Because Souths were so bad, people would say "poor Field, he only makes those mistakes because he's trying so hard in a crap side, he wouldnt make those mistakes in a good side". Problem was, he went to a great side in Manly and made even more mistakes, then did the same thing for us. The guy was a hack of the highest order.

 Don't hold back but I tend to agree….

Really interested to get your thoughts on Owen Cragie...

Funny u mention Owen, i saw him the other day. He's about 120kg. I consider him a wasted talent. I thought he could have had an outstanding career at 5/8 with the right dedication. His speed and defence were a little suspect in the centres. Ill never forget his game against Newcastle when he played 6 and we came from well back to win with Kev McGuinness scoring the winning try in his comeback game, Owen was simply outstanding that night.

My mate at work heard Buderus on radio last week, he was asked about the best player hes played with, surprise answer was O Craigie.

Frustration was the name of the game in those early days, a young ungelled team was just like a rookie player, no patience, pushed passes and some god awful dumb dmb dumb plays.

mguiness was killing it all night, good to see a young skandalis and who can forget steve georgallis.i still cant believe wayne pearce settled for joel caine over brett hodgson. tragedy. after we lost mcracken we lost momentum. what a difference tim sheens has made to the club since those days. imagne if we had belly ache.

what are u on about ,hodgson had already signed with parra and caine was not ment to play fullback he was bought to play on the wing
seers was bought into play fullback
Caine was forced to play a postion where he wasnt very good, kinda like bronson and halatau were last year

@AmericanHistoryX said:
i heard differently.

they dont even play the same postion and hodgo had already signed with parra even before the 2 teams merged
caine was suppose to be the other winger
seers was bought for the fullback spot

I remember being at that game and after getting Vagna as first try scorer in the double needed craige to score for us to get the cash and when he chip kicked i said you cost me $100 but he gets the bounce right in the middle of his fat guts and scores and i collect the $100.

Is on again….

Wests Tigers v Penrith
Round 12, 2001
>
The Tigers were coming off a four-match losing streak, smarting from a last-start 66-12 loss to Parramatta. Eventual wooden-spooners Penrith were just searching for consistency and were boosted by the return of playmaker Craig Gower. Despite the sides' lowly placings, expectations for this clash were high after their meeting 12 months earlier had produced one of the biggest turnarounds the game had seen. Could the Tigers get up off the canvas or would Penrith record a rare win?

Shannon Nevin….oh the humanity

I recall a time when many Balmain fans consoled themselves about losing Tim Brasher with the uplifting thought that we had Shannon Nevin coming over. I may have been one of those people and I can only blame my youth for such stupidity although he did look promising at Manly!!!

I believe he eventually fell into a man-hole on Darling St and was never heard of again…

Alooooooooooooooot of names i dont know there!

How about that Magpies team? Apart from Hodgo, McGuinness and the front row I don't think I've heard of any of them.

Oh well good on Tommy for giving hundreds of people the chance to say to people after a dozen drinks down at the pub that yes they played first grade football back in the late 90s…

Tell all your friends and family to vote for this one we have to win this vote I think the two biggest names in this game were the coaches RAUDONIKIS and PEARCE but you had 26 blokes giving there all for their jersey in a great game of football.Cmon everyone lets vote on this one and it might mean we see more Wests or Balmain games in the future.
