Realistically we can change our team but it won't change much for this year, needs to be built towards the future.

Bench Tamou and Ofahengaue, start Seyfarth and Stefano, bring Tuki Simpkins in for Amone, Simpkin on the bench to give Liddle a rest, bring in Tuilagi and drop Talau either for Doueihi or someone else.

Also make Doueihi captain, he's the only bloke who cares and talks a lot on the field. Brooks is too quiet and Tamou is playing less and less minutes

I really don't want to bag Brooks too much because he cops it bad. However, it really sucks he isn't leadership/captain material. Ennis brought up a good point in that Tamau is our captain and sitting on the bench for at least half the game, which hurts when we are against the ropes. Brooks and Liddle are both out there for 80 but aren't captain material. We need our captain out there for the whole game atm, but there's no logical choice other than Douehi, but he's still a couple of years off being that true leader. We need a strong leadership group which we don't have and thats a huge disadvantage in today's game.

I can't place much blame at the feet of Brooks for last night.

Brooks was one of the few who could say he tried all through the game

He looked fired up in those post game talks too....

Staring at the ground, falling asleep.

He may have tried his best, but is his best good enough?
I'd say no.

He's had his chance and he, like Madge.. has shown that they haven't got it.

Luke Brooks : report to the Chopping block.

I disagree

Can't play AD at 6 cos he is a competitor and it throws Brooks off.
We move AD to centre to allow Brooks more control...

How long are we going to baby this kid?
Hastings said he's a fan of Douihei.

Two power player halves that won't be rattled by the other.
Hastings will feed off that energy that Douihei is shining.

We need to walk away from some of the core rott that has been at this club for too long.

And forum favz, Brooks, Nofo and Mbye are at that core.

Since when has M'Bye been a "forum favourite" i would say he is the exact opposite also Nofo has always attracted more criticism than applause.

Sorry,

If he's better than Brooks which I expect him to be, that's an upgrade.
And there's your answer.

I don’t expect him to be. The fact he’s tearing up ESL is a non event imo. George Williams tore up ESL, then he comes out here and is just another half. Luke Brooks would look like Andrew Johns over there.

Craig Bellamy turns any player into superstars, he looks at the player builds on what they are good at and turns them into superstars – he does not try and adapt them to his style. Somehow each player can play their best style of game and bring that into 1 team.

WE need a person that can do this. We do not have bad players we need a coach that can identify each players brilliance and build on that.

Agree with the above

I have been a Madge supporter but last night he lost me

Never been so disappointed as a fan of what they dished up last night.

Let's credit Storm who lose 3 of the all time greats but don't skip a beat

Big fan of Bellamy. Has to be one of the all time great coaches.

Love the idea of all the players donate their week's salary to Mark Hughes foundation as none of them earned it

Blood the youths for rest of the season as we can't get any worse.

Winning football matches is the furtherest thing from the minds of these players.
As a collective they are happy just playing first grade and collecting cheques.

Something else interesting that Tamou said post match was that they thought they were doing well (recent period to before last nights game). And then a loss like that brings them back to earth.

It’s confirmed what a lot of us think on here - that they’re complacent and actually think what they’re doing is good enough. How that’s possible I have no idea.. It’s mind boggling. They have no winning instinct and no drive.

Let’s face it Tamou is here to retire, outside of Doueihi and Noffa we have no players with passion or leadership…bite the bullet and make Douehi captain.

On another topic, the NRL needs to bring in a draft…..this is the only way the lesser teams can secure decent talent

Someone is trying be their friend and not a coach. If we are all chummy and hang out on the Sunshine Coast, we must be pretty good.

Look at St George, the are dropping their best player because he can’t take criticism, we take them all to the Sunshine Coast. It’s a joke

Tamou: underlying issues

Tamou: We missed 40 tackles last week.

Tamou: needed to be addressed...

**So, why did Madge pick the exact same starting pack as last week?**

Because the coach has no idea, the sooner the club realise this, the sooner we can move forward, 116 points against in the last 2 games, from a guy who said he would fix the defence. Thats a fail, and see you later Madge, 3 years and we are worse than when you started to fix the problem

I have rarely commented after bad losses because emotion is rarely conducive to good thinking. This time I'm surprised at how calm I am but I think that's basically because I fully expected a bad loss.
The changes I would make tomorrow are:
1. Sack Maguire and hire Flanagan tomorrow. I don't care if he's a ratbag. The only rule for Flanagan would be he's not to break any NRL rules re salary cap, drugs etc;
2. Ensure Flanagan's coaching staff are top quality who could move up to the top job when Flanagan moves on;
3. Sack any player from the top 30 who's not expected to be a quality player next year e.g Talau, Mbye, Tamou etc etc.
It's time to make big changes. Another weak comment by Maguire about improvement will not suffice. We are stuffed and are worse today than we were two years ago.
I have had a total gutful of following a team who embarrass themselves and their fans week after week, year after year.

My thoughts exactly, the team has not turned up for 2 Tommy tribute games, and about 3 or four others, that is 5 or 6 games out of 14 this year they have not been ready.
That is a damning stat for any coach, I can't believe their are still people who think Madge is the right bloke for the job, he was a decent coach, the game changed, and he didn't.
He has learnt nothing from previous experience, he is making the same mistakes over and over, he is no better than JT, and should be given the same as JT got, a swift push out the door

Well lets be serious here, Brooks on the open market, would walk into a half dozen top sides, and on the same money.
Would AD as a 5/8 or centre, would Laurie at FB, would nouffa, would Taumu, would JTJ, would JL, ?????

Our forwards show promise, but the only one who can offload is a kid-- Seyfarth. The same kid is the only one with fire in his belly. Surely by now the coaching staff would be coaching on offloads, they are almost non existent in this side, hence 2nd phase play,. No wonder we are getting slaughtered.

I.e. he knows the coach is not up to it.

The aftershow after it was even better, talking about how Madge goes on about defensive fortitude yet tries to recruit players like TPJ when we should be throwing the house at Finucane. Also highlighted how the Tigers lacked leadership showing the dressing room after the game with only Mbye talking.

I watched it too. In the sheds it looked like a fair few players had things to say. Not alot of passion whilst talking tho. Probably just alot of excuse making to ensure they retain their spots. What can you expect after a performance like that I suppose. If Madge wants to stay on as coach, he has to start removing more rot from the team. Bring up the youngsters and remove the experienced loosers that know no better. Some of our first grade squad should be ashamed to refer to themselves as professional footballers. They are the definition of incompetent.

That will whip them in to shape.

Yes, handing a known lunatic sharp objects will remedy the situation. It did paint a humorous picture in my head though.
