Chris Lawrence let down by Tigers

Physically maybe KS has a point. Injuries have certainly robbed him of his greatest asset - speed.

However he makes the worst defensive decisions in the NRL and always has since his debut. Nothing is gonna change that and it's why he shouldn't be anywhere near our top team.

That's my take on things.

With reports that our facilities are pathetic, strength and conditioning not suited to rugby league and rehab clearly not good enough, I can't help but assume Lawrence hasn't had the best chance to recover from his injuries.

With all this being fixed I think we can finally make a fair judgment on Chris by mid season 2015.

I often think of the painstaking rehab that Andrew Johns and Anthony Minichielo had to endure to recapture their form. I have no doubt Chris needs the same type of treatment to get himself right. His training needs to be programmed for him as an individual.

I know most have given up hope on him but if Taylor and the club provide this for him I feel he will get his body right and do a good job for us.

I think the guy hasn't been able to do any genuine agility training for years, and once his body is right that will change and so will his form.

Yep, definitley food for thought.
Hope its not too late for him.
Class IS permanent….

I seem to remember his defense improving dramatically from his debut to just before the hip injury….Im sure i didnt dream it

People in here have been calling for Lawrence to switch to the backrow for a while and to be honest I am coming around to that idea as well. He had a number of pretty good games this year and all saw him playing an edge forward role.

I'd love to see him regain his spark and be with us long term.

his one on one defense is pretty amazing. his decisino making however is quite pathetic off late.

i dont think lawrence has really been 'let down' coz he didnt get special attention.

nrl is such a physical sport, when you have been hampered by injuries as much as chris, you just ride your luck. hodges, tate etc. had some of the best facilities but they get injured just as much as lawrence- the difference is they bounce back better.

Unfortunately, he was in the team for last 3-4 years only because he is a member of 'boys club'.
ATM, he shall be behind Fine, Naiqama (if signed?), Save, Milone, Jy Hitchcox and even Moltzen.

Go Tigers :sign:

So over this 'boys club' crap.

If your body doesn't want to do what your mind wants there is not much else to do except retire or find another position which your body and mind are each happy with.

Isn't Lawrence some sort of personal trainer / fitness guru ?
Surely he'd know if he was up to NRL standard after his injuries ?
Anyways he should've come back through NSW cup IMO .

Isn't it basically the same medical staff that in all reality saved Benji's career after so many serious injuries early in his time in the NRL? Lawrence cannot catch a football anymore- that is not medical staff's fault. Would like to see him returned to his preferred left centre next season if we are gonna persist with playing him in the centres,I don't know why they started playing him on the right side.

Lawrence was injury prone all the way back to high school (very good source).

In addition, without dropping anyone in it, I am reliably informed that his hammies are his problem. They have so much scar tissue in them that they are a mess.

It could be that his body is just struggling. Some athletes don't have the body to match their talent.

Perhaps it's actually Farah's fault that Lawrence has bad hammies…

I heard from some one on here that he is whiteanting them.

Quick put it in the Tele so a whole pile of people can tear up their memberships.

What difference would the current Lawrence make wearing the 4 or the 11 ,he simply dosent have the pace to go through the holes that get created for him , and how would he go having to make 30 plus tackles a game ..he gets paid top dollar , so go out and seek whatever rehab he needs out of his pocket if he feels he dosent get the proper treatment at the tigers .he used to be able to shoot through the hole and finish ,now he struggles to even be in the right position to catch the ball .wipe him and move on

What does "wipe him" mean? You sack/cut him and we are still going to be paying him out of the cap.

We need real solutions.

If anybody comes up with a solution (legal and approved by NRL) that person would be close to a genius.

Why is it that this clubs own fans forget the cracking form he display after he returned from the injury which saw him earn a test jumper?

Lawrence's issue is his own ego and his own mentality. His biggest problem is that he's now comfortable.

He needs to be pushed, kicked in the arse and made to prove he deserves his place in the side and the money he is getting. He is a very good player and can recapture that form.

I personally feel that he most likely had the worst relationship, out of all the players, with Potter.

But that's just my opinion.

Put simply, if Lawrence is not replaced in first grade by a capable centre Wests Tigers are again down the gurgler in 2015.

He would make a great doorman at wests leagues, patrons slipping through his grasp

He'd be even more handy at Balmain leagues !

this Lawrence thing is such a saga.

he has been a wonderful player as a strike centre but he isn't anymore.

someone tap him on the shoulder and broker a deal for him in the English league.

remembering that he came into first grade at 17- he hasn't really experienced anything different than being a tiger.

he plays on softer grounds , gets to see a bit of the world and he may come back a better player
its a win win for both wests and chris.
