Chris Lawrence to Sharks??

Maybe we are just broke, poor and destitute. Makes more sense to me.

May be we are broke because we have been ripped off by our own incompetent unprofessional management. Simple as that.

He will kill it with the right conditioning/injury free.
That leaves an odd 75? games of experience in our back line next year plus one if not two more noobies.
Tough times ahead unless you have a replacement. Simona is a potential answer but we will have lost two centers and I'm far from convinced with him at that position.

Simona is not a centre, Nofoaluama should be given the centre position.

For a guy who isn't a centre, he's definitely played a lot of football there.

Simona said it himself in an interview that he would prefer to play on the wing.

@Wests_Tigers @chrislawrence04 @gcmayer So now Chris has supposedly signed with the Sharks ? #Cantkeepthegoodones

his reply

@Ace_ZI10 oh dear. Signed to 2016.

In Engrish please??

Who is saying what?

:roll

Just cos he might prefer it there doesn't mean thats what he is full stop. He's played his majority of his career there, to say he isn't is just…...

Well sorry mr perfect.

Simona is a better performer on the wing.

That better for you?

Lawrence has played his whole NRL career with the Tigers. If he does make the move, he will be joining former team-mates Andrew Fifita, Beau Ryan, Chris Heighington and Blake Ayshford in the Shire.

Its like the 1960's again with Balmain players joining Penrith, only thing is i think Cronulla will be stronger than us in the short term.

which interview?

IMHO, Lawrence did not offer much after his injuries, similar to Marshall, his 2011-12 season was so-so,
but this year they are both below par :frowning:
Lawrence and Ayshford do not offer anything in attack, and Lawrence is often found MIA in defense, his lateral movement is lacking. :frowning:
He cannot play 5/8, and he cannot fit in our 2row, as we have much better options e.g. Sironen, Sue, BMM, Taupau, Fulton, Akauola, Fine etc.
Simona is much better at LC, and Koroibete is our best solution for left wing.
I would not like to sacrifice either Koroibete or Simona to keep one of our (unfortunately) ex star player.
So if true, thanks for the memories.

Go Tigers :sign:

This doesn't make much sense. We already have room in the cap for next year, so what does it help letting Lawrence go. We don't have another centre. We have talented wingers who may be able to transition, though we haven't managed to successfully transition a single player to another position in 8 years that I can remember. All moves failed. Benji to half. Lawrence to 5/8\. Farah to half. Blair to edges. Many of these are more obvious than a winger to centre.

Also I thought other clubs were not allowed to poach players on contract! So The Twitter reply doesn't make sense, either Tiges know about it or its not happenning, assuming i am right about talking to players on contract. Sharks are clearly dodgy though…

I also can't see how the sharks can fit him in their cap knowing they have to resign lots of big names end of next year. Why would he take a pay cut?

Surely a beat up or Chris driving it due to being unhappy. Second one is very very scary!

If Lawrence goes surely Wests Tigers can afford to sign a class player, be it forward or back, to play in 2014? What's happening. Did Mayer know about this when he stated that Wests Tigers needed to sign an an outside back. We need more than Keith Lulia.

Mabe he knew about Blake thats why we signed Keith.

This pisses me off purely because I feel we are losing one of our favourite sons. I always had faith Chris would come good.
Having said that, his form has been down of late and I'm not sure he will be able to regain his pre injury form.
Now if I was a sharkies supporter I'd be pissed of as well. I wouldn't like the fact that we have basically bought the Wests backline that has been struggling over the last couple of years.
Flanagan must have a lot of faith in himself in thinking what he has done for Fafita he can do to the rest of our team.

I believe it is the one after re-signing but I am not 100 percent.

Yes that was the interview. I remember it too. He definitely said it

No,he said he wants to play centre but he is happy to be on the wing in the NRL.

In the interview he said he prefers wing because he is more free and gets more ball. He didn't mention centre at all. He mentioned prop as a joke.

That being said I got the impression he was simply being diplomatic. He is not a comfortable media performer and I wouldn't be surprised if he held a different view.

His in the same boat as Benji and Blake…on a long term contract but going backwards...so no surprise Potter wants to let him go. Don't forget we all love Potter.....doing a great job etc etc.

The only other one left is Moltzen but funny thing his actually improved under Potter so I guess he gets to stay.
