Chris Lawrence to snub Dogs, stay Tiger

Geez I hope the Tigers re-sign Lawrence soon. He was very good tonight and should be a Tiger for life. I can see the Tigers letting the likes of Moors, Daniela and Brown go in order to keep Lawrence.

Add Payten and McKinnon to that list…and frankly I would have no issue with that!...We have some great up and comers to replace them....

he will stay a tiger so is tim sheens go to this link http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/tim-sheens-closes-in-on-new-tigers-deal/story-e6frfgbo-1226012511993" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

THE BULLDOGS have started planning for life after Jamal Idris by circling off-contract centres Chris Lawrence and Shaun Kenny-Dowall.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that the Canterbury Bulldogs have sounded out Lawrence and will make a $350,000 play for the Test centre should Idris take up a $1 million offer to join the Nathan Tinkler-backed Knights.

The Belmore-based club has also expressed interest in Kenny-Dowall, who has five clubs trying to snatch him away from the Roosters.

Just came back from Concord Oval - pre-season members fan day. Spoke to Rowdy(Lawrence) and said to him it would be great if he signed to the tigers for life…and he said "don't worry mate" with a wink....that's good enough for me..Fulton was giving him heaps about the Bulldogs chasing him....funny stuff.

Yeah cos Canterbury have that much room to move under the cap after signing Eastwood, Pritchard, Hodkinson, Keating, Tolman.
Cant see Lawrence going anywhere.

Why aren't the Tigers re-signing him??..He wants to stay…there are other clubs lining up for him...there must be something wrong....

It's all about $$$$! This where the salary cap needs some serious attention! The Tigers have done all the hard work to nurture Chris Lawrence along from his time as a junior to being a test center. They developed his talent and is now in line to play for NSW which commands some serious dollars. Now another club stands to reep from the rewards of all the hard work this club has put into Chris Lawrence.

I believe that the a club who nurture their own juniors to be superstars of the game should be allowed to pay whatever the club thinks is fair for that player to keep them in their team. By doing this it will make clubs go out and find their own juniors and nurture these kids themselves. I think clubs are too quick to buy ready made players e.g of recent, the bulldogs. Why not snap up these kids before the AFL or ARU gets them and also keep them as one club players.

Brilliant, x 100000!!

Clubs such as Rooster, Rabbitohs and Bulldogs piss me off with such stupidity. Russel Crowe talks of himself as being a great supporter of RL blah blah blah but how about you go out and find some good players yourself instead of showing the $$$$$ to the readymade ones??

This is what i read of all of this….
Lawrence is young and is curious to know what exactly he can get elswhere..this doesnt mean he doesnt want to be a tiger. Tigers have the money to retain him if they please.

x2… He's just flirting a little, I don't think there's anything there either...

Beatup.

The narrative goes that the Dogs cannot match Newcastle's offer of circa $350000 to Idris. Yet on the other hand, they'll offer Chris Lawrence this amount? If they can't afford Idris, they are rather unlikely to be able to afford Lawrence.

Having said that, I don't know how we can afford Lawrence. We must be immensely close to the salary cap. About 5 genuine star players and some real quality the next tier down. I'm surprised the supporters of other teams aren't asking questions.

look at who we have signed for 2011…we have the cash to resign him.

we are set to sign tim sheens http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/tim-sheens-closes-in-on-new-tigers-deal/story-e6frfgbo-1226012511993" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He will almost certainly require an increased salary. Assuming we are at the cap limit we will have to release players to accomodate him. I suppose that makes James Graham a non-event.

Some interesting comments at The Kennel http://www.thekennel.net.au/forum/showthread.php?t=85794" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Read the article.
They will have room if they lose Idris, which is what was said.

The narrative goes that the Dogs cannot match Newcastle's offer of circa $350000 to Idris.

Dont see it saying that anywhere

You need to understand even though you think hes your best mate at the time, players will tell punters what they wanna hear, gets rid of them quicker that way

I think, I may be a year off, though, but isn't there a salary cap increase on the horizon?? The new TV deal is set for 2012 and I think all clubs will see a slice of the pie. Lawrence, and even Graham, are still vry much in the club's plans me thinks.

With both Tuiaki and Cayless retireing we should have a bit of cash to offer lawrence ( I know Utai took a smidgen of that) so hopefully Lawrence will re-sign soon. The dogs have ennis off contract aswell so they have more on their plate then us.
