Chris Lawrence to snub Dogs, stay Tiger

With both Tuiaki and Cayless retireing we should have a bit of cash to offer lawrence ( I know Utai took a smidgen of that) so hopefully Lawrence will re-sign soon. The dogs have ennis off contract aswell so they have more on their plate then us.

It's not so much the cash that Tuiaki and Cayless will free up, they were on bugger all. It's the money Moors, Brown and Daniela are on that could make the difference. They are all off contract and the Tigers arguably have up and coming juniors to readily replace them with for next year.

if we were to lose moors and daniela i wouldnt be too fussed.
but as said hopefuly with the money freed by mataka, cayless and tuiaki we can afford to hold on to lawrence and brown.

I wouldn't be letting Brown go

I wouldn't be too quick in discarding him either, I reckon he's better value than both Moors and Daniela but if it means hanging onto Lawrence then it's a no brainer.

Losing Lawrence to the Dogs would hurt ten times more than when Prince went to the Gold Coast. Not because of importance to the team but beacuase he's a local junior…..and I HATE the dogs! I hope he resigns with us soon.

Have heard ennis resigned with dogs for 3 years ( next captain) and they got wade graham as well so hopefully that will keep there dirty paws away from Lawrence.

Absolutely!! If the unspeakable happens (which I'm certain won't) I would still want to see Rowdy do well…

Unless it was the Dogs, then as much as it would pain me... I would be obligated to hate him by association!

Yeah cos Canterbury have that much room to move under the cap after signing Eastwood, Pritchard, Hodkinson, Keating, Tolman.
Cant see Lawrence going anywhere.

Dogs Made a massive move for Tim Mannah a few weeks back (They're after a player of Lebanese extraction for promotion purposes)- He opted to stay for Less. Good man from a Great Family.

Dogs finances are suspicious.

What happened to the family club who prided themselves on Home Grown Talent. They are now the mercenary club, the Manly of this generation stealing players….

I Hope Chris can get the $$ he needs with out destroying the balance of the team and restricting us from moving forward in the next few years....

he is the future of the Club as important as Benji…pay what he's worth or he walks...simple

Loyalty is a word which Geo throws around alot in relation to players, but one thing is for certain in the case of Chris Lawrence, it is the club which needs to be loyal here. Not many of you would have much to do with Darren Lockyer, but I can tell you he IS the Brisbane Broncos and is worth more than $5M a year for the Broncos. In the long term, I see Chris as being the same for the Wests Tigers (beyond Benji) and this boy MUST be signed for life to ensure the best possible future and culture for the Tigers on and off the field…

We know it, they know it, (even Ron Burgandy knew it) so stop stuffing around and finalise this contract!!!

Beatup.

The narrative goes that the Dogs cannot match Newcastle's offer of circa $350000 to Idris. Yet on the other hand, they'll offer Chris Lawrence this amount? If they can't afford Idris, they are rather unlikely to be able to afford Lawrence.

Having said that, I don't know how we can afford Lawrence. We must be immensely close to the salary cap. About 5 genuine star players and some real quality the next tier down. I'm surprised the supporters of other teams aren't asking questions.

Because supporters of other teams don't tend to rate WT or our players, although that is slowly changing as the likes of Lawrence rise into rep ranks. Re-sign him!!

I would like to think Chris will do the right thing by the club. He has been on good $$$ for several years now, some would say we were paying him more than what he was worth. I hope he puts this all to bed before round 1.

Agreed. He is the type of bloke that the Tigers should be looking to offer a 5 year contract to. Every club would want a Chris Lawrence - top player, top bloke. With his age, I have no doubt he will become the Captain in years to come.

Lock Chris up for life Tigers!!!!!

Dw he will sign a 3 to 4 year deal his a real tigers and he has said he wants to play along side farah and marshall for more years to come and btw his in talks atm with the tigers

pffft…Lawrence is a loyal Wests Tiger..he has Clubs lining up to sign him is what im saying...try and use your brain cells please....

Burgandy :bash was wrong about many things finally though Rowdy will resign in the next couple of weeks I'm guessing......LOYALTY.......

I personally think loyalty is everything, from player to club and also from club to player but I think that a lot of people miss a crucial one… Loyalty from the player to his family!!

For this reason I NEVER hold it against a player who walks if it's a smarter career move for his family (be it geographical, financial, or whatever...)

However my understanding is that at 22 Rowdy wouldn't have any dependants (kids or brothers like Benji).

I fully believe that both Rowdy and the Tigers have huge amounts of loyalty and respect for each other.

My feeling is that the long delay on re-signing is actually a good sign... I think it means both parties are just being a little lazy in ironing out the details because both know the reality is he was always going to sign.

Chris is a great player but not into offerring 5 year contract 3-4 maybe Players can lose form get injured etc Other club other than bulldogs that might be able to make big offer would be Broncos Lots of spare money and with Bennett probably going back they could be an issue But if tigers sign Sheens they will get Chris somewhere between 350k -400k I guess
