The guys a gun don't understand why people say they don't rate him.

Yup. So far better than our guys is not funny. I'm liking us going for established players.

Ballin, ET, Idris, McQueen*… Origin players... Internationals... Finals and GF experienced.... I'm liking what we're building if it all comes together

Yes and McQueen has no signs of poor form, no injury, or extended break from first grade.

We'd be looking good if it was 2010

McQueen is solid and experienced. Doesn't miss too many tackles but doesn't break too many. Isn't really an aggressive player either. Wow, sounds like Chris Lawrence. Are we upgrading or moving sideways. For me i don't think he would add much.

That is exactly the problem, we need someone to help our pack improve(like E.Taylor)not give us more of the same.

McQueen's 29 , didn't realize he was that old …...

He was at souths for a long time.A 3 year contract from next year would mean we would have him till he was 33.I would have hoped as a club we would have learned our lesson about signing "veteran" players but we are WT and notoriously slow learners.

We've been crying out for a veteran presence in our forwards for the last few years - the lesson we've learnt is that you can't make the finals with a pack of 'promising' kids and plodders.

I'm not knocking him at all ,just didn't realize he was 29

Herald says Tigers are looking at one year contract with a 1 year option but McQueen wants 3

Personally I think he is just what we have been looking for. He is a hard man with experience and the quality to have played in a dominant QLD Origin team.

With ET, Lawrence, Masters, Aloia and Sue (although 1 is generally a prop in our squad) signed up for next year plus McQueen it brings a really solid backrow grouping

Looking at our backrow we will prob be swapping Kyle Lovett/ Joel Edwards for Chris McQueen and anyone who doesen't think thats an improvement is delusional.

You know when someone mentions Ballin as a good signing they have no idea about footy. He is the exact opposite of what we should be signing. Busted and old and at the end of his career, haven't we learnt from all the other busted signings who came in and took our money. The guy has played half a game, couldn't even play a trial and is in doubt for round 1, dud signing to say the least.

It depends how much more he will cost,
He had a few seasons where he was extremely good, but has not had the same sort of form lately.
Not saying he's no good, but he's hardly top shelf any more.
Just hope that we aren't going to pay big money for him

Good player very mobile edge back rower SMH reporting Tigers have offered a 1 year deal with an option for another. Parramatta likely if Kenny Edwards is convicted.

He is a better player than our entire back row excluding ET.

This forum needs to settle down on the Idris hype he still has a lot to prove. Been out of the game for a while and wasn't exactly known for being the most motivated player.

McQueen would be a great signing.

We were interested in McQueen recently too, right, about a 2 or so seasons ago?

Personally I think he's past his best, but for the right price I have no issue. Someone before said Boyd Cordner, that guy is the best 2nd rower in the game no challenge, he's worth a fortune to the Roosters and IMO the future Blues captain, maybe even Australia.

McQueen! Seriously???
Crikey save the money and use it for a gun, or at least someone with real potential.
Definitely do not offer 3 seasons.

Re Cordner. Dreaming. Roosters should never let him go. He's a proper gun.

Cordner won't go anywhere. Newcastle will throw stupid money at him but he'll be a rooster for life.

I'm also not that excited about the prospect of McQueen. He's alright and better than what we have but he's no game breaker. Hopefully if we do get him it's at a moderate salary.

I thought McQueen played well for the Titans last year. Decent signing at the right price and contract length. Tough and durable and experienced. Good foil on the inside for Moses or Brooks which we are lacking.
Lawrence has a tendency to fall off tackles late in the game which exposes us on the edge. McQueen doesnt miss many….could be our Beau Scott but at a cheaper rate.

Worth locking in at the right price, but lets not get carried away with what we need to pay.
To be honest there are plenty of Chris McQueen's out there and we don't need to rush. I am liking what I see in a few of our young fellas. Josh Aloiai for example. Going to be a good long term player for the club.

He's aggressive enough and rough enough and has a bit of skill. We need more like him. Hopefully compromise and give him 2 years.

according to zero tackle , these are the 2RFs off contract this year

https://www.zerotackle.com/rugby-league/players/by-position-2017/

Sitaleki Akauola, John Asiata, Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Billy Bainbridge, Mitchell Barnett, Scott Bolton, Dean Britt, Kurt Capewell, Michael Chee-Kam, Anthony Cherrington, Jack de Belin, Joel Edwards, Adam Elliott, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Salesi Funaki, Alex Glenn, Jack Gosiewski, Brett Greinke, Slade Griffin, Aidan Guerra, Chris Heighington, Ryan Hoffman, Jacob Lillyman, Kyle Lovett, Jake Marketo, Will Matthews, Tyrone McCarthy, Chris McQueen, Tepai Moeroa, Mark Nicholls, Marata Niukore, Matt Prior, Robbie Rochow, Scott Schulte, Patrick Sipley, Scott Sorensen, Ben Spina, Joe Stimson, Kelepi Tanginoa, Jason Taumalolo, Zane Tetevano, Bodene Thompson, Kyle Turner, Johnnie Walker, Tony Williams, Frank Winterstein

–----------

obviously the standout in that list is Taumalolo but he's more likely to be a Cincinatti Bengal in 2018 than a Wests Tiger .

After that I'd take Asofa Solomona but we're yet to see if he can play big minutes which will be crucial in coming years with reduced interchange . Can't see the Storm letting him go either .

McQueen is probably the next best option on that list for what we're looking for in experience & size .
