I'm assuming you mean Lawrence which isn't that big of a statement considering thats how the majoirty of people feel. No idea what your second point is suppose to mean though. Pretty hard to understand

Some people are just absolutely DEVOTED to drugs!

What does this thread mean???

I don't ever think a centre should captain a side. If he has captaincy aspirations he needs to move further to the centre of the field imo. Dunno why but it just doesn't feel right to me.

Chris Lawrence in my opinion would make an excellent club captain , but I am not convinced he is a good enough communicator to be an on field captain

Big Mal made a pretty good captain as did ET. The only positon on the field which should never be given the captaincy is a winger

Luke Covell at the Sharks lol.

But you named two. Two in the history of the game that you could think of that worked as captains at centre and let me just say that they're probably arguably the two GREATEST centres in the history of the game and they both had the communication skills (Escape with ET anybody?) and the simple on field presence to carry it off from centre. I'd say your example qualifies my point more tbh.

Jamie Lyon
Simon Mannering
Paul Bowman
Paul McGregor

Theres a few more that have captained their side over the yrs. So there have been more in the history of the game then just 2\. And as far as ET goes, to argue he's one of the 2 greatest centres to ever play the game, your a having a good laugh

Jamie Lyon shares the captaincy with a centre field player. Simon Mannering plays primarily in the backrow. Paul Bowman's led Cowboys were dead set nuffies and Paul McGregor … well fine that counts I suppose. Was he captain for long though?

As for ET being one of the best centres of all time. I didn't realise that was such a controversial call lol. The guy played for Australia as a teenager if I recall and pretty much slayed it his entire career. He was as effective at fullback or on the wing as well. Go on, name 30 without trying and I'll disagree with at least 20 of them guaranteed.

Reg Gasnier, Meninga, Miles, Cronin ,Rodgers, Lawrence,Renouf,Inglis ,Hodges , O'Connor, Gary Schofield ,Mark Gasnier , Mark McGaw, Cooper ,Chris Close, Steve Ella , Tony Currie , Kevin Iro , Dale Shearer,Harry Wells ,Brett Kenny ,Ellery Hanley ,Peter Jackson,Reuben Wiki

I rate ET as a winger but not a centre Mac

I can think of a few others at the Tigers that would be in front of him. He needs to string together a few FULL seasons before he can be considered for captain. You cant captain from the injury ward.

C'mon happy. You can't expect me to let you get away with some of those names being greater than ET as a centre. I'll bold the ones that I'll give you.

**Reg Gasnier, Meninga** , Miles, **Cronin, Rogers**, Lawrence, **Renouf, Inglis**, Hodges, **O'Connor**, Gary Schofield, Mark Gasnier, Mark McGaw, Cooper, Chris Close, **Steve Ella**, Tony Currie, Kevin Iro, Dale Shearer, Harry Wells, Brett Kenny, **Ellery Hanley**, Peter Jackson, Reuben Wiki

ET was a better centre than the rest of them and I'd go as far as saying that Lawrence, McGaw, Cooper, Close and Jackson are laughable suggestions (all good players of course, but better centres than ET? You are having me on friend).

Shearer, Kenny, Schofield and Wiki are arguably all better players than ET but none of them are better centres. So from your list Gasnier, Meninga, Cronin, Rogers, Renouf, Inglis, Ella and Hanley are/were better centres than ET imo.

But opinions mean nothing so don't lose sleep over it.

Edit: Upon a little research I've decided I'll give you O'Connor too. I was unaware that he was so revered by there you go. Anyway ET was a two time Dally M Centre of the Year in some pretty outstanding years.

Mac I'll have another shot later I was racing to get this list done before having to pick the Missus up from the airport Cut a bloke some slack :unamused:

A few you may have overlooked but I still wouldn't rate higher.

Girdler, Fittler, Daley.

But still, no you are criminally underrating ET.

Well he is NSW player and a Sharks player You've got to peel off at least 20% for that alone Pretty boy as well another 5% ,Doesn't like his photo taken in his birthday suit another 10% , He thinks he's a good fisherman and I know that I'm a good fisherman 10%

Blocker Roach and Paul Dunn are looking better centres at the moment
