Christmas Presents

So i'm finally whining down from a big 24th night and a chaotic Christmas Day . Peace and Quite in the house .
Isn't there some presents that absolutely drive you insane ? my young Boy gets a massive Ninjago Lego set that took me 6 hours on and off during the Day to put it together :rant .
Tomorrow i have 2 scooters to put together cause everything comes boxed .
Interested to know any presents that some of you might of had to put together for your kids or Grandkids ?

A few years ago 'Santa' bought a trampoline for Christmas for the daughter. 'Santa' arrived home from work at 11pm on Christmas eve and commenced the construction. It started to rain so it was taken into the shed to complete.

Of course the 3m wide doors were an obstacle for the 3.75m wide trampoline.

So it all came apart again and got put up outside in the rain. I think it was a 3am finish with a few hours kip before the excitement for a 5am wake up.

Never said I was smart, but my wife didn't pick it up either until it was too late…..

I'm lucky these days , my two kids are a bit older .
My daughters into clothes , music & movies .
My sons into fishing , cricket , wests tigers & Xbox games so I haven't had to construct anything of late .

My gripe is that about 6 years ago my mrs purchased a 12 foot Christmas tree , it was an ex display tree from myer . It's at least a day and a half gig to erect and decorate , and it's old man hobbo's job to put the bloody thing up !

Swordy that is bloody hilarious  , i to had a similar encounter with a trampoline i put up 6 years ago , i thought i would be smart and put it together without the instruction manual while the Mrs standing next to me saying " why don't you use the instruction manual"? I said to her this is a piece of cake love  , i said you worry about the kitchen ( tongue in Cheek ).
I was proud i assembled it with no instruction manual but when i went to put the netting around the trampoline that stops kids falling of it , the netting wouldn't fit and i had to start loosening the bolts to get the netting on . Yes the Mrs walks out the back and asks me "why are you loosening the poles "? i said i forgot to put the washers on , she walks away laughing yeah right i saw you from the bedroom trying to stretch the netting .
Women don't miss a beat

She'd kill me if I bought a small tree !
This tree has 3500 lights and about 500 ball-bulls on it , It a real spectacle when it's done .

Doesn't sound like you need any lights on the house with that tree - it would light up the house on its own!

I always try to buy the floor model to avoid assembling. I have bought bikes, basketball rings/backboard, bbqs, xmas tree, etc all fully assembled. One year got caught out and was up till 4am making a fuseball table. Every bloody player had to be screwed in with the tiniest screws.

Got the kids a trampoline as well. I ate way too much. Waiting for the cricket and Sydney to Hobart to start. I probably don't need to eat again for a few days but I reckon it will only be another 20 minutes before I'm picking at the left over ham and turkey. No wonder way people pack on the kilos during to Christmas period. Probably should start looking at a new exercise routine.

Demps I did the same thing many years ago with a complete Thomas the Tank Engine set

Table the whole shebang

And probably rebuilt it with him 100 times afterwards

Lego was best when It was just lego blocks and left to the individual childs imagination, same with meccano etc.
Now it seems the imagination side has been removed, you build what is pictured on the box

Myself - got my son a slot car set one year with the lounge room floor the only place it'd fit….took forever to put together......his aunt and uncle were in the habit of giving him board games for a period (Simsons one comes to mind) where it took forever to set up and eventually the game wasnt any fun anyway not like the classic favorite board games
