Clarification on Koroibete's departure

Although Koroibete's departure from us last year may have matured among us, I have been watching him playing lately for the Melbourne Storm and quite-frankly he is prospering - making me upset we released him. Koroibete was the U20's player of the year before he joined our first team and in total scored 12 tries in 9 games. Marika encompassed everything; pace - being the quickest in the game, strength and overall minimal errors when running the ball. These attributes are what we are lacking in our back line today and could help us tremendously. At the time when the club released him, it was to my understanding that Michael Potter was playing him in NSW cup, whereby in one game (when I watched him against Cronulla) he scored a hat-trick. A few weeks later I saw on the NRL website (right towards the bottom) that the "Tigers had released Koroibete to the Melbourne Storm". However, this news was not detailed on the Wests Tigers website. Why not?
The main reason I am writing this article is to clarify the reason(s) as to why Marika Koroibete had indeed left. Was it because of his lack of playing time? Michael Potter not liking him? Moving for family reasons? My curiosity is further enhanced by the fact that there was not much speculation or renowned melancholy among the fans (I know) in regards to this deal - maybe due to its lack of media coverage and the fact that Kevin Naiqama and Patty 'Ice-man' Richards, are doing well and contributing respectively.

Feel free to comment and resolution would be greatly appreciated.

The main issues I believe were Koro was very susceptible in tackling and under the high ball. That of course was 2014.

I never thought there was too much in it that was personal… I always felt it was simply a matter of Melbourne wanting to off load a player, and played 'Go Fish' with the Tigers.

At the time (prior to injury run) we had a glut of outside backs, so the Tigers played ball to beef up there forwards stock.

Nofo was a better alround Winger and Richards was always going to get a jumper based on experience.

All clubs makes dozens of decisions during the year like the one that lead to us releasing Koro. Sometimes they are good sometimes they are bad. This one bit us on the arse.

He now plays for the Storm and I support the Tigers so I'm not that interested in him. I would rather support/discuss/review/critique our current and future players.

he left because he wanted to play FG and at the time we were in the top 4 or 5 teams on the ladder with patty richards and nofoaluma on the wings meaning he had to play NSW Cup due to poor defence.

even now, we have 3 good wingers for 2 spots. why would we want 4? our issue is we need to get them into better space, not that they need to be faster and worse in defence

I have heard stories on this topic,one that Koro wasn't happy as he wanted to play FG, another he wanted more money,missed training sessions,traded for Lodge etc. who knows what the truth is but i would still prefer him to be at the WT.

Bulldogs probably having the same whinge about Tupau. Its the nature of the game, some players perform better at other clubs.

If Mayer hadn't of signed Richards without even consulting potter (told to me by mick himself) then he wouldn't have had to of been released.

Interesting. I always thought Potter was a huge fan of Richards from their time in England. He certainly talked up the signing in the media at the time.

Strange signing for a CEO to make without speaking to his coach.

His amazing potential was there for all to see….theres more to all this than him just wanting to play FG...any other NRL club would have been gagging to sign and develop him...a howler of a decision

If you were in reserve grade and had errors in your game i think youd jump at the opportunity to play under one of the best modern day coaches.

That's just weird… Wouldnt he have had a Passport considering he is from Fiji?

Maybe we should relocate the Storm there?
