Clearing up the Luke Brooks salary discussion

I've seen a lot of ridiculous comments about what his salary is (have seen some people say as high as 900k), and to be honest until clubs make contracts public we'll never really know what players are being paid... However in an article from the daily tele on Sam Walkers impending contract negotiations the following was revealed:


600k is definitely not too bad, whether he's performing to that level is up to each individual's opinion. I'm not a overt supporter nor basher but I do hope he finds the form this year that everyone wishes for him. Just posting this to clear up some of the recent convos

Nah it is 600 k ...per good game

1.5 good games a season = 900 k

Give Luke a pay rise and an immediate 4 year extension.

Just shows you what mistakes Clubs can be made in search of the silver halfback bullet.

I honestly don't think that there are any real marquee halfbacks. Cleary, Reynolds and Keary are the top guys and they are miles off Tedesco, RTS, Tom T and Ryan P.

I judge Brooks as being on about 600k as well. That was the only reliable figure I've seen.

I'd love to get Andrew Johns here in his prime. He is the best player I've ever seen. He won 2 premierships. We don't have any players like that now though. I reckon halfback is where you have the most overpaid under performing talent in the comp.

Yep. And his combination with Benji was incredible, and still building. Probably undid another potential premiership for us when he was booted.

His problem was he couldn’t tackle his grandmother. A turnstile in defence.

He was on $550k, and got an upgraded 4 year deal, I thought I read at the time he would be on $800k in years 3 and 4

If he lifts his game we couldn’t care less if he was on $650k or $900k. Poor bloke is confidence driven and he has hardly any of it.
With AD improving weekly as his halves partner we hope to see an improvement in Luke’s game.

We might not have the marque halves but once we build momentum and start to win games they will improve and look much better.

I’m sure 100% of us want Luke Brooks to become a better player and be successful. After all, he does wear our jersey.
