Coach Benji šŸ‘‘

Hes.just banked 2 points

He was.probably saying what he thought may be best for the team down the track re subconcsious bias from refs... theres no point in him making waves at the presser last night.
I disagree on his opinion on the Curran no try on two counts
1.Contact with the leg is a penalty
2. I doubt he grounded it

As you said the Curran penalty was the correct call by letter of the rule ..but even if it’s the wrong call going your way … still don’t admit to it in my opinion ,… next week they are on the wrong end of a clanger and the consensus will be ā€¦ā€oh well by his own admission last week he got a bad call going his way so it’s all a wash ā€¦ā€

I am starting to worry that we have already peaked and until we get all our troops back not sure Benji can do what Foran does for Manly . Did we make the right call on his extension too early .

Of course we didn’t. It was totally unjustifiable and based on available data was a tragically incompetent decision.
It was made solely to ensure players didn’t pull the plug.

I heard one of the Manly players ( forget who) say that all Foran has done is simplified a lot of the training/ planning and made the whole thing fun again. Now that’s simplistic I know but he’s got the team believing in themselves and their teammates. Benji is now caught between a rock and a hard place, 5 weeks ago he was being hailed as the future of coaching but he has been brought back to earth, admittedly by some things out of his control. Too much intensity will make it worse imo but having players capable of ad libbing is not always easy. We have to have some structure, especially defensively, interspersed with Benji ball.

Agreed because without balance you will only ever have short term success

It wasn’t about whether it was the wrong call or the right one. Right and wrong had nothing to do with it. It was on the back of HBG sacking Richo and the blowback by the supporters. HBG panicked and in desperate need to pacify the vitriol, gave Marshall a five year contract. Not even premiership winning coaches get five year extensions. But Benji got one, despite not having even coached a final.

Benji’s team selections leave a lot to be desired. He keeps on selecting Seyfarth,Madden & Hope reserve grade players. Latu Fainu should be the halfback. If Doueihi is not available.

Yeah definitely agreed, I like what Benji brings to the club but team selections and bench use can be questionable

Latu came on in the second half when the game was gone, we were screaming for something in attack

I duno what the go is with Ethan Roberts but one would have thought he slots in at 11

Maka is clearly a winger

Our lack of depth at 9 and centres is on him as well

I hope we can fix our issues over the off season but unfortunately I think we are beyond repair

Can’t compare benji to foran

Orrrrrr

You actually can

Look at them as players

Kieran was all heart, tough, direct, physical, ran hard, tackled hard, would die in a ditch to win

Benji, didn’t tackle much, all flair, super skillful, not that consistent, up and down, tough bc came back from injuries but not consistently disciplined

As coaches that’s how there teams perform

Foran said I coach them how I played - a million miles an hour.

Benji can’t do that bc it’s not his authentic self… he did it at the start of the season and now has slacked off giving players the green light to do pranks, take time off during the bye etc

Benji can’t be consistently a hard ass all year bc he wasn’t like that as a player

And that is how manly and the tigers are different now

He brings passion and pride in the jersey (except for today) and that’s it. When was the last time we raved after a win about a Benji game plan? It hasn’t happened.

No one was complaining about a lack of a game plan when we were flogging teams at full strength.

Benji’s game plan today I'm sure wasn't to drop the ball all the time and throw stupid passes and miss a shit load of tackles.
