Be easier to have more positivity, if the club and Coach could get their stories straight when they make their big announcements about things involving salary caps and recruitment. When they say that the future is bleak and no signings for years. Then come out like magic and say, that's not what we meant, they look like ( at worst) Liars, and ( at best) fools.
Their previous announcements weren't the figment of some hack reporter, it came from the Head Coach, and Marina Go.was it just another distraction.
I'd expect more accuracy from the board. If they can't tell us the truth, then don't say anything.

this is what Marina Go said:
"It’s probably about three years before we unravel the mess we have inherited,” Go said.

“Every day, every week there’s a new thing we look at and go ‘oh my God’. It’s a serious issue. It’s a serious challenge.

“Fans and members just want to win every week. They don’t understand, and neither should they, that we have massive challenges around what the playing squad will look like next year and the year after given the salary cap challenges we have inherited.

We’re going to do our best within that. But unfortunately there is going to be some pain. People are saying to us ‘you keep releasing all of these players and you’re not buying any others’.

“That’s because we know what next year’s contractual arrangements look like and we’re freaking out.”

Nothing about no signings. Everything else was inferred by a journo or some commenter here. A quick google shows Taylor never said "no signings" either.

I've got the Taylor quotes below, and he didn't say "no signings" either. Many other people on the forum have already said this, but it's worth repeating: If it's not a direct quote, take it with a grain of salt. Newspapers are in the business of blowing stories up.

"The decisions we made at the start of the year of letting players go was purely based around the position with our salary cap at that point in time," Taylor explained.

"In a word, it was horrendous. We had to start by letting some players go straight away, not so that it would make a difference this year or even next year. Those decisions were made so we can genuinely go into the market down the track and that will probably start to happen in a better fashion in three years' time.
"It's hard for people to get their head around how it works, but to put things into perspective we're currently over the salary cap for next year and there are some players with us that we'd still like to re-sign."

"We started working on our salary cap in November last year and we are still working hard to get to a point where it's working for us and not against us," Taylor said.
"At the moment it's working against us. It's making what we're trying to do at the club a lot tougher than what it should be. We'd like to think we can be in the market for top-line players sooner rather than later but we'll have to look at our roster and how we manage it.

"It's scary to think where Wests Tigers' salary cap would have ended up in a few years' time if myself and particularly Phil Moss didn't start looking at every detail and work on how it will look down the track."
