Can we lok at upcoming / younger coaches and see them as future winners or shapers of the game, in the sense of Gibson, or Warren Ryan?
Consider this crop: Brad Arthur; Dean Young; Trent Barrett; Ben Hornby; Kevin Walters; Jason Demetriou ... most first grade coaches that have failed to make a difference.
Is it due to their style of coaching OR the players they coached? Are clubs so hungry for success that every coach is given an unrealistic time frame (less than 2 years?) to make a mark?
The few good ones that are in the NRL (Cleary, Stuart to name a few, with Bellamy interding to retire) don't look like going anywhere soon.
Ceraldo is going OK at the moment, but at the back of some decent signings.
Seems to me that there are few "innovative" coaches. Which is reflected in the style of play we see week in week out from most teams. Perhaps the media shouldn't be talking up their prospects until they actually deliver.
As for Benji, we'll know about his future in the game and his style of play by the end of this season.
