Joke.
I watched a game of Park Footy a couple of years ago, u18's sub districts in Brisbane.
No entry fee, walked across the road and stood near the sideline and watched some awesome footy. Remember those days?
Let the NRL go broke and these players could come and play subbies.

I think the problem with this thing not getting sorted may have a little to do with Clint Newton , just my take , guy has an a gender I feel

Is an agenda the same as a big ego? There has to be an investigation into this poorly handled fiasco.

cobar correct that’s what I meant , yes I feel he is part of the issue with his attitude and ego , these guys won’t strike as it would destroy the game , funding , and all that comes with it meaning these overpaid in some cases players would need to go get a real job for $ 65 k per year cause most would not be executives material that’s for sure

KEY POINTS
NRL players have threatened to delay trial games and cover NRL logos in the pre-season challenge
The players’ union has set the NRL a Thursday deadline for a breakthrough on certain conditions
The $100,000-to-the-winner pre-season challenge will begin on Thursday night
NRL stars have threatened to delay the kick-off to pre-season challenge matches, cover NRL logos on jerseys and refuse to do any media if head office doesn’t meet a Thursday deadline for three key conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.

The Rugby League Players’ Association is threatening to take its protests to the summer tournament unless agreement is reached on a salary cap for the women’s game and other non-financial issues in the NRLW. The RLPA also wants autonomy over its own finances, which are currently controlled by the NRL.

The urgency of setting wages and conditions for the women’s competition has triggered the latest twist in the negotiations, with a text message between senior players on Wednesday agreeing further action would be taken unless there was a breakthrough by the end of Thursday.

Players have so far boycotted promotional appearances for NRL-aligned media and events, but the latest threat signals a significant escalation.

In a message sent to players on Wednesday, the RLPA outlined the actions it was planning for this weekend if there wasn’t a breakthrough on certain parts of the long-running CBA negotiation.

The Warriors will host the Tigers in the first match of the pre-season challenge on Thursday night, with all nine games to be broadcast on Fox League.

The RLPA is also trying to take control of its own funding, with the issue being placed front and centre of negotiations between NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo and players’ union boss Clint Newton. The pair met again on Wednesday.

I'm going fence sit for a second until I see members reaction.
What about the massive fox and nine multi-million dollars tv rights. If there isn't games what will happen?

No idea, you'd think they'd want some of their $$$ back (broadcasters)

So these players are aware that generally if you strike, you don’t get paid
Good point, millions!
But can someone please tell me if there's no games, how does this effect to multi million dollars tv deals with fox and 9.
A can of worms...what about sponsors dropping off, this could bring the game to it's knees. Compromise you knucklegeads and review it again at a later agreed time.

I hope we are not going to be in the papers for not starting our game on time , our club needs to say to these players get out on the field on time and ready to play or go home , these knobs like Newton who has no brains will destroy the game , all the money comes from TV and sponsors , these guys get paid very well maybe they should organise some of that money for life after football , nobody will have spacial, funds for me when I finish work , I pay super for that and so does my boss , if the player feel that playing the game will cause issues after they retire , simple don’t play , boot off , we could drop off 50 top line players and the game will still go on , the young guys will step up And take there place , NRL is not the only contact sport but these sooks think it is , Boxing , MMA , Soccer , Union , are they all going to strike , no , just Newton led brain dead over paid knobs , if I was In charge of the NRl I would ask every club to ask Players if they are ok now , if any say no you tell them they are fred to go contract torn up and can’t play any football in Australia for 10 years

They've made a good point now make a compromise. They should get the games and promotions underway and sign it under the conditions it has to be reviewed mid-year. This will give it months to sort it out and not hours and the NRL will know they are serious and will be forced to compromise.
An external adjudicator could be in order.

To be honest the players arsesociation would have a valid point IF and only IF they are arguing for the younger blokes trying to get a start in the game(increasing the basic wage). However if this ends up like most negotiations they have made in the past only the players at the top pointy end will get any major benefits out of it.
The NRL should tell them take it or leave it and not back down.Any player who is not happy with that can go swing a pick for a living, young players will take their spot and make a very comfortable living from it.
Just my thoughts

Can't argue with that.

I lean towards the players on this one.

V’landys and Abdo tried to stiff-arm them by introducing the new salary cap without consultation, thinking that it would shut them up.

But that’s not what it’s completely about.

Why can't the players contribute a percentage of their salaries towards a medical fund?
This would also help the 'vulnerable' players because the blokes at the pointy end would be chipping in the biggest part.
As for higher training wages etc?
Seems this thinking is why we have a shortage of tradespeople in this country ... everybody wants to start on big money and not work their way up.
Any kid with talent gets mollycoddled for years.
As for poor old Joe and his surgical timeline?
The player funded medical fund would sort him out just fine.
The NRL might even throw in a few bob too.

I've asked this before, doesn't seem like anyone knows. They should be no different to any citizen.
We had to pay fees that covered personal serious injuries, it was part of player registration 🤔
The NRL being a fierce contact sport would be broke overnight if several player had serious injuries....how many it would take is unknown but it would cripple the game.
I want the best for the players too, surely they can work on this a better way.
We supporters are only seeing our side of it because we want the new car and they wont let it out of the showroom unless all insurances are paid up. Two sides if the argument but lets not cripple the game. Come to a compromise please.
