Concord to extend Sheens' contract

sorry guys…dont know what you are talking about...alternate accounts are not allowed so please refrain from accusing me of being posters from the past. back on topic please

triangle choke is correct…who would go to the trouble of setting up more than 1 account....he is not Ron or anderson obviously... :unamused:

Ron/Anderson was banned because he was too self righteous for this forum....

Back on Topic please...which IS............

Sheens impending extention..which I'M guessing will be announced shortly before the first trial if WESTS Tigers HISTORY is anything to go by...1 year or 2 that is the only question Sheens needs to make HIS mind up on...

i think sheens has over-stayed his welcome…but he has shaped the club nicely over 9 years and i think 2011 should of been his last as coach here

TC - how has a bloke who took us within one point of a GF "outstayed his welcome"????

He has had to again re-shape our squad after his previous failures - and has done so magnificently with the likes of Ayshford, Dwyer, Fifita, Brown, Lui & Moltzen becoming key members of our squad in 2010 and beyond!

His recruitment has been very solid to excellent - with Ellis & Lote better than anyone expected when announced!

His capacity to maintain a good off-field culture at the club has been enormous in the context of our spruiking for sponsors!

And his special ability to coach a specific game-plan for finals performances was evidenced in all three of our semis this year (despite the two close losses - and fair criticism of his bench management - our game plan was near perfect in all three games and if the gods and refs had favoured us - we would have made - & won the GF!!!!)

The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence - and the simple rule of both business & sports administration is that you NEVER replace an ASSET unless you have a DEMONSTRABLY BETTER OPTION!!!

he had to re-build from HIS previous failures….dont forget that... when you weigh it up we have 2 great seasons 7 very poor seasons...its unbalanced to the enth degree...he still makes rookie errors in his selctions aswell...and an unmatched stubborness when it comes to certain players.... i think sheens has finally built the right nucleous but seriously...you throw enough darts eventually you will hit the bulleye mate....

i wouldnt say very poor seasons

That is only because you don't have TC's gift for hyperbole Barry!

I will give him late-2008 though - that was embarassing!

Id give him a 5 year contract extension..
You can be assured that we'll make it to the finals one of those years..probably the last when his contract is again up for renewal so we can do it all again..?

Sheens has done extremely well to rebuild the side after 2005\. He has had some clangers in recruitment that no coach is devoid of, but the previous management is just as responsible for the failure to capitalise on the success of 2005 to lure big name talent to the club. The club is flying high, we've got excellent rention of key players and are identifying good young talent. 2011 is a year that will define Sheens career. We should be looking (injuries permitting) no less than another preliminary final finish.

I would have said same thing post 2005,when we had Ohara,Galloway & one other name player (cant recall ?)all coming to the club to build on our premiership success & supposedly launch us into a "dynasty".
We all know what happened next..in fact what didnt happen for another 5 years…which is why Im sceptical about Sheens ability to achieve sustainable results once the euphoria of 2010 has subsided. He has a numerous array of shortcomings which are transparent to all except himself + the most diehard Sheens fans ,which have a tendency to make continuity difficult to achieve
Id like to see just that(ie more results) before any significant contract extension for Sheens(ie > 1 year),as I certainly dont wish to see groundhog day of 06/07/08/09.They were disappointing times after the base he built

This is true. I said that he has had his own shortcomings. All coaches do. My argument is that management had their part to play and we just as responsible for the recruitment and rentention that came about post GF win.

For a side that just won a grand final, I find it hard to comprehend that the management at the time shopped the tigers out as a dynamic entity on the up and all we could manage was the signatures of Lolesi, slammin Sam Harris and Ryan O'Hara…

Noyce was just as responsible as sheens. Everyone forgets this...

Noyce want picking the teams thow, Imo some of Sheens selections in the past have cost us games and ultimately the top 8 to much manufacturing Morris at 7 Galea at prop to name a few. His 'so called fans line' this year also annoyed me, i am greatful however he helped us get to the finals this year, but i still think it is time for some fresh ideas.
