Why can’t Wests Tigers’ Pascoe carry on like st. Helens when it comes to Matterson?

Because the St Helens CEO will look a proper moron when/if one of those players moves on before end of contract.

@Madge i dont have a problem with that. Needs to be more of it, i think we see to much of the opposite patting a guy on the back when he makes a mistake. Same game, Thompsons attempt was a shocker he should have copped a spray for that from his team mates. Of course the spray stays on the field.

It was so fleeting I didn’t even see it! I’d hardly call it a harsh spray. Heighno’s one to Teo a few years back was a harsh spray.

Heighno should have copped one himself for not diving on the ball at the scrum in the semi verse easts in 2010, cost us the game

not really....cost us the game for sure....but putrid anasta did hit a cracking and highly unlikely field goal on the run

and from the sideline. He never kicked one like it before or since. The Gods were not with us that night.

from memory he was even running away from the posts....completely awkward angle for anyone to kick anything

Matterson is digging a bigger hole for himself.
His/ managers declaration about our club being not for him/ unprofessional whatever other excuse they want to come up with, is doing nothing for us in trying to secure a suitable replacement.

agree. if theres one thing about robbie Farah, he's as honest as they come. If he said it's about money, I'd put my house on it.

I hope another player comes out and makes comment about him. How are we not "the right club" for him when Madge got him into career best form? He was 18th man for the Blues, was unlucky not to play one of the first two origin games. His numbers were off the charts. Of course, most of it is down to him to produce that, but still, if we weren't the right club, then there's no way he would be able to play like that.

In my opinion, it's an insult to his team mates to come out with a comment like that. He's basically saying "I can't achieve what I want because of my coach and team".

See this is where it gets cloudy from all sides

If he was told during negotiations that Cleary was staying he has a right to be angered when not only Cleary leaves but is then replaced by a coach who is the exact opposite in style

At least he tried to work with Maguire

We are not the "right club" for him because we have a tendency to come 9th

Maybe you should ring Eastbet and see what price you can get for us finishing ninth.

Might as well - get it out of your system - you seem to have a fixation.

And he didn't know that before he joined us ?

He wanted the chance to play 80 mins in first grade every week. He got that and now he’s done with us.

I empathise with Matterson in the sense that he didn't probably get what he signed on for.

Most come here to be overpaid, have their career go to pot and wind up virtually unsignable at the end of their time.

He came here at good value, forced his way into origin consideration and will likely command more money elsewhere.

I'd be filthy too.

G'day @happy_tiger: At Last!!!... A commonsence appraisal amongst all the negative crap from others.

Maybe I can also use @Russell comment about people having a [negative] "fixation" about [Matterson].

I am wondering whether there is time limit on Matterson/his agent/West tigers making final decision? This stand off can't continue into just before next season begins.

It probably could......

But what would happen if he sat the year out? Do we still have to pay him or does he forego it? But by that stage the cap would be sorted and we have money to burn with all the decent players signed elsewhere

@OzLuke True, but surely he wouldn't take the option of standing down the year ? He would be like a kamikaze pilot hurting the Tigers and himself.
