And in addition to that apparently, Souths have offered a player swap for Matterson. If I had my 2 cents I would think it’s Gagai.
Saw this on LU.

What say does Gagai have in this? I can't see one single reason he would leave a title contending team to come play for us.

Things in the marketplace are gonna hot up by the end of this week!

Think you may be right. Rumours slowly starting to surface amongst other fanbases too.

All this talk of Matterson and a player swap, very hard thing to make happen...firstly finding a player who will leave a top 4 side to join a rabble....sort of goes down the draft road, very sticky situation

With Centre of Excellence at Concord. I think for long term prosperity we need to make ANZ refurbished our home ground and grow to exceed 25k average per game.

Maybe 1 game each at leichardt and campbellown for heritage round or something

Especially if the revamped ANZ is a good as Bank West or Suncorp from a spectator point.

It won't be - they can't do that with what they have.

The good thing is, we don’t necessarily have to get a player from the club he goes to. It’s likely to be a domino situation. I’m sure we’ll have someone lined up before green lighting his move. I’ll take a stab and say Capewell.

I was told Capewell was already coming to the club. We'll have to wait to see if that is true,

@Spacecub damn when was that

I think it was from a forumer who said his mate asked Arrow if he would go to Wests Tigers and Arrow replied, "I would rather go to Syria than play for Wests Tigers"

If that is true, then there is only one reply to give to Arrow.

We are relocating to Syria....

So i'm guessing we are setting up in Damascus. That would be good because the home game we normally play at Tamworth could be transferred to Beirut instead. Not that far from Damascus so the fans shouldn't be too disgruntled.

If we did well over there and garnered the desperately needed extra support, both corporate and otherwise, plus put somebody from the UN in charge of Human Resources at the club. You’d get plenty of people back home putting in their Aussie dollar to contribute to that continued success, it would be like an all-time fairytale sporting story!!!

I got a good laugh out of that. Thanks.

@pawsandclaws1 if that’s what we are going to get for matterson I’ll be disappointed.

I was told he was coming prior to the Matterson matter.

Talk on the eels forums is that Angus Crichton is joining them on November 1st. Could possibly rule them out of the RM sweepstakes if it eventuates.

@iofthetigers oh ok.that could be a problem then.I believe we may struggle next year but from there we should be looking at consistently being top 8 if Madge and the club recruits well. All we can do is hope that Madge is able to sell the dream to him.

Eels forums are delusional at best

@GNR4LIFE Isn't Capewell off contract for next year (2020)? SO we could get him anyway and still get someone for Matterson. (I'm not confident, but hoping for a good outcome, and getting Capewell when we could get him anyway doesn't seem to me a good outcome.)_

Well that’s just bloody lovely isn’t it. He’s happy to play for a crap team and get the wooden spoon, but abhorred at the thought of coming to us! Why the hell are we so maligned by players all the time? We are far from the worst team in the comp.

Because we don't stand for anything! I've asked the question before, who are we? When we were Balmain, we played at Leichhardt. When were Wests we played at Campbelltown. Wests Tigers play everywhere. We have no home, no tribalism. We are a manufactured commodity who have never planted any roots.
I think the Souths book of feuds is a massive wank, but at least it gives them something. So ill ask again.......What the ...(fill in the blank) do we actually stand for or represent?

I can tell you 100%, i have spoken to a current 1st grade player, and they feel homeless. The answer when i asked about BankWest is "it's not our home". Now thats not to say it can't be, but by not planting roots anywhere, we will never grow.

This is a great post.

I am in my late 40s and was a Balmain fan all my life, but I'd be happy to give up the whole LO thing / whatever...if it meant we had one home ground.

We need something.

Parramatta finished 80% home wins this season and smashed the Broncs. They have a home field advantage. Manly does. Storm do.

We need one.

Please let's not ignore rosters when looking at results. No matter where you play and how often if your team is not performing well and your roster is poor you will lose. Why are you not mentioning the Titans with their home ground or Penrith with a great roster and a home ground advantage and they still didn't make the semi's.

The Titans? They are not even a real club, that is why I did not mention them. All teams on the GC, all sports, have failed.

If home ground advantage is not real, as you imply clearly, that means Liverpool have no advantage at Anfield I guess?

Home grounds do not equate to success if your team is not good enough in any sport - and you will get beat by better teams at your home ground no matter what advantage people perceive they have.

Yes it is, I agree. We have a lot of people who see the way forward is away from our traditional grounds!

@cochise we can never ever give up on playing games at Leichhardt or Campbelltown .It is where this club started as Wests Tigers as we are today , i think it’s great for local business and the junior teams within the districts and both grounds are great for viewing .Keep 3 local games at these grounds for mine.

They are renovating ANZ - they are not going to pull it down. To rebuild would cost too much moolah and so, as usual the State Government have pulled out of that.
