I know a lot of people questioned the club signing him but he has been excellent for us this year and well deserved for his selection.
Great to see and looking forward to him killing it in game 1..

I remember him saying one of his goals when he signed with us was to get his SOO jumper back…bet there were doubters he would achieve this playing for the Tigers….great to see even playing for the Tigers you can make SOO….good outcome for player, club and future players who join the WT!

Congrats Joffa. well deserved. He gives 100% every game and has a great motor, well suited to how the game is played in 2021.

P.s Matterson would have made SOO when he was playing for us but NSW had a no-D-heads policy.... well a maximum of 2

Little fanfare in terms of how he is seen in media and in games. But if you pay close attention, he has a mean look on his face. He'll smash someone then not even look phased by what he did. I believe he is what you would call a "no-nonsense footballer".

if there's anything you can tell about Joffa, he loves this place. we've restored his confidence, he's playing good honest footy and he gets rewarded with a Queensland jersey. stoked for him. hopefully he comes back up another gear.

“Sometimes I questioned my ability.”

However an honesty session with his father and his partner Sofi set Ofahengaue on the path to rebuilding his rugby league career and his reputation.

“I could have stayed. [Broncos coach] Kevvie [Walters] would have put up with it but I know it wouldn’t have been the best thing for me,” Ofahengaue said.

“I had a contract there for two extra years, they would have paid me that money and I still would have been playing NRL but it would not have been the right decision for me.

“I went home and had a conversation with my dad and missus, it opened me up to thinking I needed a fresh start. “I know a lot of people wouldn’t have had the guts to do it but I backed myself and made the decision to move to the Tigers and it has worked out for me.”

However after losing his place in the Queensland side first due to injury and then form, Ofahengaue is hellbent on making the most of his second chance in the Origin arena.

“I worked my butt off this pre-season, doing all the little things, I stripped it all back,” he said. “It was like falling in love with the process again, trying to get better every day.

“Madge [Tigers coach Michael Maguire] and the coaching staff were a big part of developing my game, really encouraging, made me use my skill again rather than just a straight up and down front-row/lock.

“[But] I knew one day I would get a [Origin] recall, that’s how much confidence I had to get back into this arena.


Good stuff...a few people, myself included, have asked 'who has Madge improved?"...well, there is one he has def helped become better.

Even though we have struggled, I doubt he’d be regretting his decision. Has been in great form, and now is back in the Origin arena.
