Contract Discussion Matt Groat

Yeah with all the injury concerns with props mid season , if he was going to get a run it would of happened by now

Felt sorry for Groat actually , he was thrown to the wolves way too early and then was compared to Woods when he didn't cut the mustard and took that bad hit from Teo

He deserves better in my opinion

With you on this one , Happy.
He's only a kid really - and still has the ability in him to be a solid first grader.
On the other hand we're all calling for them to let Potter pick his roster and staff so we can't have it both ways.
Good luck to him if he does leave and hope the decision doesn't come back to bite us on the bum like Fifita leaving.

He won't be a Woods, but he's still young and had plenty of time to mature as a prop. Would have liked to have seen him get another lash here but he doesn't appear to be in Potters plans.

Good luck to him.

I still feel Groat could make it, this could come back & bite us on the Bum, you can never have to many Props.

Made a huge impact in 2010/11 then faded badly with injuries etc…good luck to the kid I hope he makes it big.

His light stepping, shuffling running style will mean he will never dominate in attack. Just doesn't "dent the line" as yous blokes say.

good guy, just not up to first grade standard yet…
give him a few more years and i think he'd be alright but i dont think hes going to want wait around.
if we started him we'd just be shooting ourselves in the foot.

Yep to both.

If he learns some good footwork it will improve his game so you never know - he is young enough.

They have a top fijjian prop coming through, Kem Seru. I cant see Groat getting a real chance of first grade over there. While at the Tigers he would be behind Brown and Lovett.

Think he is on par with Buchanan. Both will be decent journeyman props that every club needs but neither will be superstars of the game. I'd rather keep him but no point if he will never get a look in. Good luck in the future groaty!!

he has been excellent in NSW cup recently, I reckon he will play a lot of first grade without being a star.
