I think we need to keep Trimarchi. He is a base salary player who can play in the back-row and never let anyone down when called upon. These type of players are good to have in your squad to cover injury and don't affect your salary cap too much.

I think so to. Very underrated player.

To be honest I would rather Mataka.

I don't think, or expect Trimarchi to stay. Mataka on the other hand I like. More damaging with the ball in hand, runs good lines and should improve further.

Tupou is signed to a 2009 2nd tier contract only at this stage. Laz is signed to a top 30 contact and aligned to Balmain.

When did Mataka re-sign ?

Tame Tupou…Is McDonnell lying or inept....“Whilst Tame was in England, we registered an NRL contract to the value of $500 plus match payments before the 30 June deadline,’’ McDonnell said.

How do you know they are on second tier contracts?

No expert on the salary cap but if the top tier minimum wage is around $55K, how could a $500 base + match payments be anything more than a second tier contract..?

They way I understand it for NRL players on these types of match payment type contracts… is if the player plays first grade and are contracted for the following year ...match payments must be comensurate with $50K that year minimum doesn't matter how many games...Which is why sometimes with these type of contracts clubs can run into trouble in following seasons...BACKLOADING....Sound farmiliar...

The second tier cap as I understand is for players outside the top 25...If a club uses a player from State Cup or the 20's the salary comes out of that cap not the 4.2mill for the NRL squad.....

Blake Lazarus..."Wests Tigers is pleased to announce the re-signing of talented young back Blake Lazarus. Lazarus has agreed to a new one-year deal for the 2010 season. He was off contract at the end of this season. He worked extremely hard on his rehabilitation with Wests Tigers rewarding the skillful ball-player with a full-time NRL contract for 2010." McDonnell again.

Willie Mataka...I can not find anything official about but remember a thread on him around the time of Fulton's departure to the UK...saying he was signed up for 2010 to the Wests Tigers...not 100% sure...if he is not I am sure he is in Sheens plans for next Year...Happy to take him off the list for now

Hey Wests Tigers arn't going to bad considering we only have 23 players in our Top 25 for 2009....should be saving $$$$$$$$ for the future....

Signing a fulltime contract doesn't mean your on a top 25 contract. Nathan Waters has been on a 2nd tier fulltime contract for the past two seasons as has Gallant and before that Beau Ryan. Neither of these players have been part of the top 25 squad… similar to Mataka this season. This is the last I will say about this - you can believe it or not, but Lazz is on a top 30 contract.

Tupou has only signed on for this season at this stage.

I still haven't seen anything written about Mataka but will take your word for it.

It is hard to understand why the Tigers signed Gibbs to a long term deal.

Hopefully an ESL club will buy it his contract.

You can thank the former CEO for that. Gibbs has gone better this year but he's still by and large been another "unfulfilled talent".

Gibbs is doing fine. He had a great stint there just after Galloway left where he really stepped up. Unfortunately he wasn't getting much help to Skandalis came back and since he hasn't performed as well as him. With the responsibility he thrived. Sheens needs to sit down with Gibbs and work out how to get that back.

I agree. I have been pretty impressed with Gibbs the last two months.

Hopefully Sheens keeps that rocket under him and we'll see him fly.

Gibbs is rubbish.

He'll never be a consistent player, we've been waiting for years and it just hasn't happened, its not going to happen.

Have you been watching the games lately? He is consistently topping 100m+ and still making heaps of tackles.

What do you want from your props? They cant all make 25 hit ups for 200 metres like Price.

Last five rounds.

Rd 17: 146m (Made a 50m break)
Rd 16: 97m
Rd 15: 53m
Rd 14: 136m
Rd 13: 119m

Average: 110.2m. Decent, could be a lot better.

Scott, Lima and Tronc are around the 120 mark.

Gibbo is doing fine.

For this season he has averaged 98.7 metres per game and 24.7 tackles. In 2008 he averaged 89 metres and 27 tackles per game. So he has improved his attack this season, with an ever so slight reduction in defence.

I think the following new players from the lower grades will be part of the top 25 squad in 2010 -

Dwyer
Lui
Akeripa
Pritchard

We can officially add Geoff Daniella to the list now.

There will be a couple of other new signings announced soon. No word on who they are just yet.

Sheens practically told us another two in Justin Schirnack & Simon Dwyer in the team selection video.

He was inferring to players currently outside the club Staks. I reckon one will be Arana Taumata, the other I don't know, a decent front rower would be nice though.
