Urgency in defending our try line, including desperation to save tries. You see it from the storm and roosters. When an opposition player comes close to scoring, multiple players rush to try and hold them up or put them over the sideline. E.g., the roosters against the Titans on the weekend when Joseph Manu never gave up and made a ridiculous try saver.

Actually that part I don't think we are so bad, though I don't have the stats on me. We seem to be quite resilient on our own line despite the football we've given up - we held out Parra and Penrith for long stretches.

The killer tries each week have been long-distance ones - Hiku broke the match open last week with his effort from mid-field, as did RCG for Parra. Koroisau closed out the Penrith match with his midfield dart.

Second in set completions only behind Penrith - 83 - us 81 and hence we have less handling errors than every other club bar Penrith. Credit where credit is due.
Our run metres and post contact metres are mid table. Conversions worst in the comp
We are performing pretty well in all the key areas.

Yeah , but we were 23/24 at HT and Madge lost it

Completions only mean something if you can mount real pressure with a good kicking game and field position

Maybe there is a reason he lost it.

Maybe he said the game plan is X and Y, maybe they did not adhere to that plan and did A and B.

That would cause him to do that wouldn't it?

As nothing changed in the second half it would be another reason to be angry at full time.

All very well to say he shouldn't be harsh, where has the quiet chats at half time gotten us
over the years. Absolutely nowhere. So let's try getting into them.

Simple really, do as I ask or I'll get someone who will. What is it going to be boys?

Warriors had 9 offloads before halftime and our kick chase was non existent. Yes we were ahead at halftime but the boys didn't look like they wanted to play after the 1st 10 minutes.

Imo we run too much one out especially at the start of our sets. The middle defence is so compressed you aren't going to make too many metres. We need to go a few passes wide of the ruck there is space every game. Don't make it so easy for the defence to contain you. Which in turn makes the defence think a lot more and breaks up their defence patterns.

I agree with this. There was no lateral shift against the Warriors at all and we really needed to shift the ball to the edges to trouble them. It's a waste of talent when you have line runners like Garner and Lucy who can both break the line and Lucy showed that early on when he popped a great ball for Mbye to score.

We're just not playing smart football in attack. No good having 23/24 completed sets when all you do is run 1 out and kick. Start running up in two's and send some decoys, then things start to change because you're asking questions of the defence.

My big recommendation is to go back to playing what is in front of them. They were doing this earlier, especially when Harry came. I also think there is not enough support play, now that Corey Thompson has left. Brooks especially could be very effective here, running off players like LL, BJ, Nofo and even Eiso. Lastly you need players who can defend well, with big motors. I would like to know stats around points conceded when players like Clark and Eiso are on the field together - I bet they would be good numbers.

Based of NRL Stats

Supports we are ranked 13th
Conversion percent last
Pretty high in penalties conceded
Below average post contact metres
Suprisingly Ranked #1 in decoy runs (yet crap in support runs)

Stats actually read towards a top 8 in not pushing top 4 team
Clearly between the ears for theses in difficult moments.

This ^^ i wonder how much was because we really lacked strike out wide . Also I felt like the attack looked clunky with Walters . Say what you want about brooks but it’s very clear the difference when a ball is put where you are going rather than where you are . The attack works with strike centres ie. when Joey and hopefully Talau get in there . Mbye at 14 isn’t the worst thing either . Kurt Gidley made a career of being a mr fix it. And Kurt Mann is doing it right now .

From what i see two things:

1. We are lacking the ability to change momentum when it goes against us. We need players that can dominate a tackle one on one.

2. Under pressure we stop playing football in attack. We get narrow (maybe a consequence of our lack of pace/strike) which makes us a sitting duck.

in our two bad losses (titans/warriors) we stopped playing footy when we were in front and once the momentum shifted we lack the ability in attack or defence to change it.

I'm as big a prick as the next person , but even I would have taken a 94% completion rate ...challenged them to have a 94 % defensive completion rate in the 2nd half

I've seen a poster share our general game stats and their statistical analysis is always good to read - especially in terms of measuring individual and team performance.
Just wondering if that person can share a summarisation of where we are going right, where we're coming up short and particularly how we've come up against the top teams. I know there's nothing missed from a lot of people on here but I'm genuinely interested if it does reflect any overall development from the boys.

PS it's okay not to supply any goalkicking stats

https://www.nrl.com/stats/
If you look on here you can see how we are travelling against other teams.

Thanks @Telltails.

PCMs - Post Contact Metres.

You have good PCMs and you win the ruck. You win the ruck and your forwards can build a platform for the halves to use the space.

Against the Warriors, we were picked off to easily. They dominated the ruck and we didn’t go forward. Their first tackle was often on their forty and they rolled upfield.
