Cooper Cronk Released From Storm

I also really liked how Blair brought the Melbourne culture with him when he came from the Storm. Changed our team he did.

Here's a crazy thought. Probably not true but the timeline fits I think.

The Tigers board expects JT to remain coach for the year so let's him work through the preseason with the team.

After, 1 or 2 rounds, Cronk decides he's moving to Sydney and somehow he's talking to the Tigers. He's interested but not with JT as coach. He'd be happy with Cleary though.

At this point, Tigers reach out to Cleary and find out he's keen to join, especially if there's a possibility of coaching Cronk.

So now Cronk is interested but he's not announcing his intention to move to Sydney until JT is sacked and Cleary is signed.

Meanwhile, the Tigers pressure the "big 4" with a deadline so that they don't sign (reverse psychology) leaving room to move one or more on of the cash is needed.

Cronks timing allows for the most time possible for contract negotiations. He has nothing to lose and now clubs are scrambling to put their best offer together.

To be honest, I'm expecting that if he does sign in Sydney, it will be with another club and we'll persist with Broses & Co. That's the Tigers style.

We need to play the family friendly angle. He's made his money, he's going to be here to start a family and maybe build into a media career. Tell him well look after him, get him media exposure and take him around to house shop in hunters Hill. Right next door to our new COE…

if Moses went elsewhere for big dollars and we managed to get Cronk. Do people think a halves pairing of Cronk&Brooks would work?
They are both 7's. one on each side of the ruck I guess.

I wouldn't rule the Tigers out of this. I could quite easily see Cronk in a Tigers jersey and Brooks heading off to the Storm. The key factor is though, hypothetically if we were to sign Cronk, we still need to strengthen the forward pack or else he is also going to look ordinary. we need 1 more front rower alongside Woods and a stronger backrow.

We are also 750k better off next year when we aren't paying Robbie Farah. It can happen and still strengthen other areas.

We will be $1,000,000 better off next year, because of Farah and Sironen's contract money, so there is quite a bit of fat to work with. 😛ray:

Comparing Blair to Cronk?

Ill leave it at that.

33 now - for me it would come down to how much and for how long? Ultimate professional - worth the risk.
Wonder if he sees us as worth taking a risk?

I doubt it in terms of how he sees things

However if we could put together a package of captaincy, coaching and good $$$ you never know.

He seems like the kind of guy that would love to be part of a rebuild. Lots of incentives and motivations at play.

All the carrots we're talking about dangling in front of him, you can bet your bottom dollar We won't be the only ones promising him the keys to the kingdom.

If he comes it would be amazing. An absolute star, it would attract other players to us and possibly at lower cost. Mentor brooks get rid of Moses. I think Teddy and woods would then sign for less

I love this theory. it could be a movie.

Russel Crow as Cleary and Sam Worthington as Cronk. Who can we get to play Bellamy and JT…

Yep he is a player you go after. all the reasons people have mentioned, and yep give him a coaching job after footy as well or instead if he retires.

2yr contract still playing great footy, brings a wealth of experience and an excellent culture. I'd push the boat out for him, give him a Meriton apartment (or maybe not) tell Moses to shove it keep Brooks and bring across Cleary Jnr in a couple of years.
Better plan than we've ever had since we stumbled over a premiership
