Corey Thompson

The only concern I'd have over Thompson wearing the 1 would be his ball playing. Tui offers another dimension in attack chiming into the backline, I just don't know that Thompson would have the same impact with the ball in hand.
Good luck to him though, it's great to see that there is genuine competition for positions.

As Cleary said the team that starts the season could be very different to the team that ends it and I don’t think he was talking about injuries. I would have Tui starting. But if his found to be a slow learner maybe he should be getting his timing in an easier grade.
On Thompson he did play on the wing for a full season the year the bulldogs went through to the grandfinal. He was brought down from ISC to play fullback but des persisted with Sam Perret. I guess it’s all relative. Depends the type of team Ivan wants and how they progress through the season.
If his ISP fullback he’d be getting a chance to work on his combinations with Liddle. We do have a tough opening 1/3 of the season and Cleary does favour dependable types.
I’m intrigued to say the least.

I wonder what Ivan will do with Tui if Thompson replaces him. ISP? Or does he find him a new position in the backline?

Surprised a certain Sunshine Coast resident hasn't been blowing smoke up his clacker

Former Brisbane Easts Tigers player trying to get on the Storm roster before signing with Dogs

As for goal kicking only kicked 6 goals for Widnes , not saying he can't kick , just not first choice kicker

Nigel Plum…

not really a mixture of youth and experienced NRL players

Link to the team that played that Prelim... http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/seasons/nrl-2014/prelim-final/penrith-vs-canterbury/summary.html

Interesting Bench [The result might be in that]

Nah, it was the man of the match performance from Corey Thompson. Watch what he does this year.

He is from my first junior club… **Watch your wallet first and foremost!**

Corey Thompson is a decent player. Gus Gould has always rated him and he played very well for Widnes over the past 2 years.
Yes he might be small in stature but is a very good finisher and not too bad in defence.
It all depends what Ivan wants from his back 3…..however Thompson will never let you down.

These days your no1 has to be able to be a extra no6\. Not bagging Thompson but I think Tui offers a hell of a lot more. I guess we will know a lot more by the end of the month

He wasn't doing badly for us at 5/8 but can't see him pushing Reynolds, Brooks or Marshall away.

If Brooks flops (I seriously hope not) I could see Tui going Utility. Otherwise centers.

But having said that, I can't see why Thompson would not slot in on the wing. Neither Thompson or Tui have played a lot at Nr 1 and Thompson has played on the edge. More likely he could push out Nofo or come in for the injured. Could see Founa pushed to the Centers and Thompson on the wing.

Cleary must love making tough decisions week by week.

I fear Russells heart is breaking.

If Tui is not a better FB than this bloke - we are in big trouble…

Tui has a mortgage on the FB spot - believe me KS.

Yes lets all believe Russell Lol

Coming from a guy who thought Braith Anasta was a good player for the club.

Anasta was a good player for Brooks (not the club) - have you got dementia???? :roll

Exactly the way I saw things, and did he not help guide him to the NRL rookie of the year award? Anasta's role was to direct the side and help Brooks development, which he did, nothing more, nothing less.

anyway - back to Thompson, there will be injuries and he will get his chance at some stage. Good to hear he is having a red hot go.

Anasta's 2 hit ups and 1 tackle per game were good for no one! And if that wasnt bad enough, he never misses an opportunity to stick the boot into the club

If only we had given him more Gatorade and strapping tape, he would have played much better

2 hit ups , wasn't it 2 metres :roll

I'm serious

That's what angers me the most , his TPA falls through and its all our fault

He could of been a decent signing at an earlier stage but that was the problem , too old to play lock , too crap to play 7 and Benji was 6

If only Lui could of stayed off the grog after semi final losses

TPA's don't fall through at the Roosters, Uncle Nick guarantees that!!!!
