Yes lets all believe Russell Lol

Coming from a guy who thought Braith Anasta was a good player for the club.

Anasta was a good player for Brooks (not the club) - have you got dementia???? :roll

Anasta's 2 hit ups and 1 tackle per game were good for no one! And if that wasnt bad enough, he never misses an opportunity to stick the boot into the club

2 hit ups , wasn't it 2 metres :roll

I'm serious

That's what angers me the most , his TPA falls through and its all our fault

He could of been a decent signing at an earlier stage but that was the problem , too old to play lock , too crap to play 7 and Benji was 6

If only Lui could of stayed off the grog after semi final losses

Totally agree…wasted space

I would like to completely blot out of the record books (and my memory) that Anasta was ever a part of our club. Maybe he would too - if so, it's mutual.

He is a winger who can play fullback and is a very good goal kicker.

So played a bit of NRL, couldn't nail down a consistent start then went to England for a few years.

Undersized but a decent backup fullback who can be used on the wing.

Good backup goalkicker.

Is this bloke basically Jordan Rankin take 2?

I fear Russells heart is breaking.

If Tui is not a better FB than this bloke - we are in big trouble…

Tui has a mortgage on the FB spot - believe me KS.

No one should have a mortgage on any spot really..

That’s been one of our biggest problem for years, form is what counts; (or should be).

Talk about tangents.

I am not saying he has a mortgage without good form. I am saying he has the form, the defence, the playmaking ability, the linking with the back line and the x-factor to make the No. 1 jumper his.

Yes, we will see, but for mine he will out perform any full back pretenders in 2018.

His too small

Maybe so>

Ben Barba, Brett Hodgson, Robbie Odavis, Lachlan Coote, Even Tim Brasher was no giant.
You dont have to be 6'6 and made of stone all of these blokes above proved that.
I remember watching him on the wing a few years back in 2014 the year the dogs went all the way to GF.
hes got 87 games for 52 4 pointers…....thats better finishing then any other player in our current sqaud.
great signing in my book.

He doesn’t have any form at all at fullback so far, if he’s the best when he gets the chance, fine.
But at the moment it’s no ones spot.
It’s a whole new season
I hope Whoever gets it is pushed by others for the whole year.
That hasn’t happened here for a long while

He is a winger at this level, a pure finisher who needs to play outside a good centre.

I would assume he is behind that Malake bloke and Kev before we may see him.

I thought Malakai Watene Zelezniak and Kev did ok in the back half of last year on the wing. Kev also went pretty good at fullback in the WC and when he filled in for Tedesco last year. Both good depth players. Although I haven’t Corey Thompson’s form in the last two years or so to comment on where he is placed in the depth picking order. However both Kev and Malakai Watene Zelezniak got a wing pass mark at NRL level last season.
Out of the three Kev (due to WC form) would have the inside running over MWZ and CP.

1\. Lolohea (Kev as back up)
2\. Nofo
3\. Marsters
4\. Milne
5\. Fonua/ Kev/ Malakai Watene Zelezniak/ C.T

Reminds me of Mighty Mouse in some ways - fairly reliable and respectable, but if you are small you need to have something very special in another category to take that next step. A good big player will beat an equally good small player over time.

Barba, Hodgo… yeah special talents on small frames. Clive Churchill! But you need special talent to make a career without the average size/strength. I don't think Thompson has this special talent, but I'm quite pleased with his capacity as a backup.

And if I am proven wrong - all the better.
