Corona impact on NRL...?

The finances were laid out based on the Storm’s season. Each round the TV revenue is worth $20 million to the clubs. Then each game a club is forced to play behind closed doors will cost $550,000. The missed gate revenue is worth $125,000, membership $300,000, corporate hospitality $50,000, merchandise $25,000, partners $50,000.

Basically the game has to continue or it will go broke!

Isn't that the same for any business..?

So they shouldn't do what they can to avoid that? I know that I am!

This has an unexpected hidden silver lining for the Nrl ...Imo there is going to be a couple of clubs that could go under .
The Nrl are going to have there own financial issues so bailing a club out will be the least of there concern and it is timely for them as they have wanted at least one Sydney club gone for years . The financial ramifications are huge for these clubs unfortunately the clubs that will survive will need deep pockets or some very rich backers or there gone ….No one will bail them out this time around as this financial disaster will affect all levels of society !

Quarantine them now seriously. After this round. Move all the players some random location with no visitors. It's the only way I can see it happening. They are going to be pretty depressed by end of season though!!!!

Won't somebody think about poor Matto? The ponce was kicking stones because nasty WT held him here against his will, he will be a blubbering wreck in a few weeks time.

Correct, the way to expand is to introduce new teams next door existing ones.

So with new restrictions in place for NZ it looks like this afternoon may be the last game for the warriors for a while. Not sure how the comp can continue fairly with one team unable to play.

I think there is talk of them staying in Aus and continuing in the comp from here, but honestly how unsettling would that be to any top 8 hopes, let alone Premiership hopes? Will all but destroy any chance they had imo, not that they need any more reasons to fail.

We might as well start getting used to the idea that this season isn't getting past round two, three at the outside. Sooner or later, a player or member of support staff is going to test positive and at that point the comp is off.

Personally I think asking the Warriors to stay away from their homes and families in the interests of keeping a competition running that absolutely will not go beyond another fortnight is a shameful decision. The NRL should have cancelled as soon as the news came out of NZ rather than try to string it out.

Basically, with this virus there's a clear choice: do an Italy-style lockdown early so you don't become Italy, or do an Italy-style lockdown late because you've already become Italy.

Problem is the NRL is basically dead with a suspension of the season!

The footy will be done and dusted within 2 weeks ... the Warriors are just the start this alone is laughable ,talk about getting the bandage out ! one case it’s all over , do not get to invested as you are going to be very disappointed .

If the NRL gets suspended there's a good chance they will go broke.

Corona will pass, we just don't know how long it will take.

The heads at the Australian Medical Council have all recommended that we self-quarantine and close our borders. Which I agree with.

NZ has done it and we should too.

The government and our tax dollars will prop up the NRL post this pandemic.

At this point no player has, the longer they keep income coming in the less time they will be without. Broadcast deal is worth $13m a round!
