i hope all this blows over in 2-3 months.

Gonna be a lot longer than that.

Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon today said

""America will again, and soon, be open for business. Very soon. A lot sooner than three or four months that somebody was suggesting, a lot sooner. We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem."

don't know if i agree

He’s just desperate for the economy not to tank cos if it does, his greatest boast of the last 3 years is in the toilet.

It gets worse and hopefully news that a couple of Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's believers have listened to his advice on the anti malarial drug vaccine being great crap, will stop him bullshitting people. The result being one is dead and the other is in ICU fighting for life.

Maybe they listened to Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon and ignored the advice on the packet - "use only as directed".

From all reports the drug is widely available and very safe. Sounds like they had a few extras, but I'm just guessing until details are confirmed.

Agreed, but the trouble is so many of the people that listen to Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon are not the brightest sparks and he sucks them in with pointed attacks like those evangelical pastors do for their flock, so that they blindly trust him.

As I wrote in the CV & us thread, I know people there and they are very much affected. The new huge worry for the nation is and I can only assume by his two day absence from the briefs without explanation, that he has now also pushed aside the expert Dr Fauci for telling the truth or not towing the line.

Edit; I note that Dr Fauci has been reinstated to his much wanted public role and at the briefing today.

How can anyone say with any confidence that we have only 1893 infected patients when only 148,000 people have been tested? I realise this was targeted testing on those with sore throats and running noses but the numbers remain inconclusive. I don’t wish to alarm anyone but this is a deadly invasive virus which sneaks up on you. 14,000 infected with the virus is definitely not out of the question. Stay safe.

Twentyforty 14000 IS DEFINITELY out of the question. At the *lowest * mortality rates reported globally, that would mean 140 dead and 700 hospitalised. We have 7 dead and 14 hospitalised which tracks pretty closely to all other data. I think the other data reflects well on the testing.

If we have 14000 cases, that would mean the death rate of 0.05% and we should just all get on with our day and forget about lockdowns.

Its hard to hide dead bodies and ICU beds.

@Tiger5150 I think you’re making some assumptions with your view? When you calculate the death rate you include all the new cases of SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2). You also exclude those not diagnosed and god knows how many people are living alone with the virus and others alone who are possibly not? The stats only show the positive number from those tested.

Not really no. No assumptions just simple maths. Our reported death and hospitalisation rates are about the lowest reported in the world based on the REPORTED figures. If the numbers are significantly higher it means our death and hospitalisation numbers (which are measurable and not debatable) are beyond anything experienced anywhere on earth. Again I said 14000 is definitely out of the question because if we had 7 deaths and 13 in hospital for 14000 deaths, then bring on the footy and open up the pubs!

2weeks ago we had 100 infected patients, today we have 2000 and these are only from testing.

Yes, that is the nature of exponential growth as I’ve bored many with here repeatedly here. Over week ago when bunker boy said it would be 14000 today I said it will be 2040. Who got closer?

My point is that based on global best case scenario for death and hospitalisation rates, our case numbers look about right. Definitely not too low.

They’re only what they are because of the novel nature of the virus , could very well be low for us, not based on results of total cases in Australia and whether a major portion are asymptomatic... which is what people continue trying to remind you to consider. We could blow up any time.

As we’ve both mentioned though, hope not

It has blow up that's why the states tried to go rogue the other day and ScoMo stopped it ScoMo is plodding along trying not to make hard decisions he's very weak let small businesses bleed out along with the Australian people just remember this at the next election what the libs have done or lack of

Who believes the next stage of restrictions will be the lockdown of the Ryde Eastwood corridor?

My aged parents are there and it is of great concern, as is that my son and I were often staying there for his mental health, until I told him earlier this week that we no longer could, as we were endangering them with our movements.

Forgive my ignorance, but Im not from Sydney. Is that area a higher risk for some reason?

Hi guys just got confirmation it's this Thursday lock down 100 percent good luck to all

So what's the difference between now and a lockdown? All non-essential businesses are already shut down.

Have you been to a shopping centre, as not too many essential businesses in them, even if you count the food courts.

No I can't say I have this week. I thought only supermarkets, pharmacies and stuff like that were still open from today. Forgive if I'm wrong.

Much more than that open!

There are a lot of cases in that area at the moment, our government seems to be looking at localised shutdowns and that area is a good chance of being one of the first!

If the PM has a set he would do the following

1) stop all mortgage and rental payments
2) stop utilities billing - water/gas/electricity/telecommunications
3) those who lost jobs - centerlink for payments

This would make it easier to enforce restrictions and people to abide by them.

Without releasing pressure on having a roof over your or paying bills - people will calm down.

For anyone who says how much it would cost etc... well if we don’t everyone is stuffed and the cash we spend will not just be now but long lasting impacts.

Interesting idea from Kevin Rudd on twitter @weststigers

From Twitter:
“With schools closing, if students have no effective internet access, a practical way forward might be redeploying ABC multi-channels (ABC Kids, ME and HD) to deliver the agreed national curriculum.”

The national curriculum was his baby so I am not surprised he wants to see it continue. But it is a novel idea, I would look at getting people like Eddie Woo to present lessons!

Unbelievable

That would have to be one of the most despicable things I have ever seen. Should be locked away for a very long time. Absolutely no regard for other human beings.

I agree... But I'm also skeptical this isn't a gee up... Hard to say

Hmm...on closer inspection it seems the woman being arrested has a different top on than the lady who spat into the fruit.

Also, the spitting lady is not wearing a mask.

Sorry team - I think I've been duped and I think the video has been stitched together to make it look like someone was arrested for spitting into the fruit.

2 different ladies from the looks of it.

Nah
She was arrested after going back to the same shop ...
Filthy grub !
Should do 10 years for that !

Have you got the news story? I can't find it.

The facebook video said she was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Yes but I can’t post the link on my phone

Why not?
Skeptical again ?

You realise Jacinda hasn’t shut everything down don’t you? You can still go to the pub in nz.

So in effect citizens are being punished for the ineptitude of the authorities. I organise for a living and these people are hopeless at it, yet their jobs are secure. I voted for Gladys, but she must resign and every official who decided to let them off the ship.
