Flicked to 604 (Coronavirus channel ) ....Ardern expects Australia to pick up the bills for NZ workers in Australia

Short term I don't have an issue ..but long term why can't they contact NZ social services for assistance

Would be cheaper to charter planes and fly them home. I think that there are a lot of planes looking for passengers at the moment.

Are you suggesting free one way mystery flights for all NZers

China Being Sued for 20 Trill

US probably just looking for cash to pay off their debts.

Don't blame them to be honest. If China withheld it from the world and allowed diseased citizens to leave the country, there should be certainly some sort of reparations.

I have to agree CB,if someone does an injustice to someone else they can litigate or sue for compensation...Not turning this into a China hate thread ..only pointing out that on a global scale they also have a duty of care to their own people and to people who visit their country...I would say in a normal court of law they could be found negligent and in breach of their duty of care,,,

Can I ask this ....

How would they have known early on it was any different from any flu season

It is quite similar in many ways ...with the amount of people coming and going from China by the time they knew it was too late

Haters got to hate I guess

Happy, the CCP arrested and detained the doctors who first reported this as a new virus. The CCP broke into the research lab that first identified the virus as a new virus and destroyed the vials (Sun Yang style) (Source Washington Post & London Times). In december the CCP officially notified the WHO that there were no human to human cases.

Thank you!

If people want to read a CCP propaganda mill, may I suggest moving themselves over to the Beijing Daily or similar state run publications. You can swallow all the lies you can handle over there.

What about the Spanish Flu ..it started in Kansas and killed somewhere between 25 000 000 and 40 000 000

Did the rest of the world take action v the USA

Have the Americans taken ownership or paid any reparations ....

Oh that's right ... this country is Red ....

Stop living in the past mate ...

I'm not ...I just get so sick of Americans living above the rest of the world

As I say America seems a beautiful place ...just a shame so many Americans live there

Have you been to America?

Overall, they're a pretty friendly bunch of people.

Just the twits I've dealt with here

No hurry to get there either

The only decent Americans I have met are in the Armed Forces ..general public I rate the Yanks with the French as aloof assholes

And don't disagree with the comments in how some Australians behave either overseas

See I didn't mind the French either. If you made an effort to speak French to them first they were a very warm and accommodating lot. I saw other tourists while I was there not even attempt to greet them in French, and that's when they get indignant. They are very protective of their culture.

French make the Yanks look good

The only likable French person I've even seen is Henri Leconte

The whole French arrogance thing is a fallacy. I used to believe it until I went to France.
It started as soon as we got to our Hotel in Paris, after we had run 4 blocks from the train station in the pouring rain. We were soaked, entering the lobby and the Maitre de made some wisecrack in English (that I no longer remember). It could have been taken as an insult and I looked at him intently and then wisecracked back. He laughed, I laughed and it was all good.
Basically it's like Australian humour, frankified. I worked in tourism for a time as a guide and behind a bar and we were always making fun at the tourists. It kept us sane. Some got it, some didn't.
I reckon the French are the same.

That's fair enough. Imagine someone in a shop here in Australia trying to buy something, being an obvious tourist and not knowing any English. Hopefully the shopkeeper wouldn't be rude to them, but you would expect the tourist to try and speak the language rather than expecting the shopkeeper to know whatever the tourist's native tongue is.

When we were in Fiji a couple months ago. Friendliest people. Everywhere you went, even miles from nowhere, you’d drive past someone on the side of the road and they’d shout “bula”. Me and my girlfriend laughed, imagining being on a tourist bus in Sydney and having people wave and smile at you. You’d get the finger instead.

we got a long way to go in NSW to fight this. The ship docking in CQ was an utter disaster of biblical proportions

Pity it is a Commonwealth responsibility. Why do you think the NSW Police are now responsible for preventing the disembarkation of passengers and crew?

Because they have the power to do so as it's not a Commonwealth responsibility. ABF may be many things but they have no power to prevent people from disembarking the ship. A preceding order made by the Minister for Health would need to have been given, and the order is specific to a person, not an object. I've been involved in numerous discussions around these types of matters all week and without going into further detail the laws need to be changed because these issues fall back to the state and that's where the confusion lies because we're dealing with international points of entry in relation to a health crisis.

someone is to blame for over 50 infected people disembarking. I dont really care if its commonwealth; local district; tribal leader or whatever, someone screwed up...The end result is exactly the same

Border Farce were hammered again for the fiasco at Kingsford Smith yesterday. It was left to our nurses to demonstrate professionalism to these Blackshirt baffoons by measuring increases in temperature of returning passengers. Guess which organisation couldn't enforce social distancing?

Yes, they did drop the ball on this one.

Take Google Translate with you too and download the dictionaries so you don't need internet access. That's how I spoke at length with people in Japan when I had an issue with tickets or my Suica transport card. They understood perfectly.

I agree. You're going to visit, at least learn the basics.

Easiest solution is to number items .....

Or learn a batch of words? Not that hard.

Take Google Translate with you too and download the dictionaries so you don't need internet access. That's how I spoke at length with people in Japan when I had an issue with tickets or my Suica transport card. They understood perfectly.

Did 3 years of French as school .....I'm saying in general most can either say or understand a number

Noticed in Malaysia it was used in certain places ...that 20 years ago though

we got a long way to go in NSW to fight this.

So who is the Director of National Biosecurity in the Home Affairs Dep't. and what was his or her role. in the berthing of the ship?

The STOPTHEBOAT freaks failed to.stop the boat that really needed to be stopped. The bordermeister instead had his black shirts hunting down toilet paper hoarders in Coles.

Next. election, Scotty from marketing will be able to say that he did stop the boats except for one.
