Border communities rely on health services provided both sides of the border by two States. To block access to some medical services because you happen to live on one side of the border undermines the health and funding agreements for the States and the Commonwealth. If ever there is a case for NSW to retain monies from GST and tax revenue that is normally reallocated to Qld, now. Is the time. This would allow the provision of specialist health services in Northern NSW with no further reliance on Qld.

There is and remains a joint agreement on emergency medical situations across the border. This was not a political decision to not provide assistance, rather a politically opportunistic attempt to put the break down borders boot in, despite knowing the facts.

Could you imagine the outcry if a Queenslander was critically injured in a car accident in New South Wales and the New South Wales Authorities stated that New South Wales Hospitals were not for Queenslanders, off you go to Queensland. Too bad if you die on the way.

That woman north of the border and her Chief Medical Officer are nothing but filthy low down scum.

I only wish I could say what I really thought about these political opportunists.

I can only assume that you are referring to Morrison as the opportunist, as there are reciprocal emergency arrangements in place and that you regard the Mater Hospital employee that made a mistake as filthy scum.

On the bright side, Victoria has gotten back below the hundred new daily positives after recent peaks. Good too that the world's case numbers have somewhat stabilised, with the US death rate also getting back down to just under a thousand a day, towards that of Brazil, though India is probably about to break through that number in the coming days.

On the down side, quite disheartening to see that the US has been conducting less testing, plus CDC then being told by the administration to recommend that asymptomatic close contacts of known cases no longer be tested. This seems absolutely stupid when some 40% of cases are believed to be asymptomatic and about 50% of infections are transmitted by persons before they show symptoms.

6000 'Queenslanders' aka Australians have been treated at Tweed Heads Hospital in 2019. This represents 20% of all In-patients - NSW Health Minister

In Queensland, we have Queensland hospitals for our people. - Qld Premier

Quite an extraordinary situation as community transmission of Covid 19 is occurring in Qld. "Queenslanders' travelling to Byron Bay and other Northern NSW towns represent a threat to NSW Noth Coast Destinations. But the Qld Premier will pretend community transmission is not occurring.

No. Qld Premier has been caught out playing the tough borders re-election card. As a life long Labor voter, my father an active member of the Party, a huge thumbs down to the Qld Premier.

18. year Olds just want to have fun. I am just disappointed that something humane as hospital care can be denied under this pretext. It should not be a political issue.

No, wrong again, as the problem was at the Lismore NSW Health end. What we and @pawsandclaws1 should be asking is why they didn't arrange transport to Brisbane first up and more importantly, why on earth did it take some 16 hours to sort out a flight to Sydney? Especially when you could probably drive a return trip in similar time.

That is of course after questioning why a large regional area hospital doesn't have adequate services.

Northern NSW. Health confirmed the patient was required by Qld to quarantine for 14 days, hence the move to Sydney.

Good to see rural Victoria opening back up tomorrow, including for elective surgery and the Melbourne numbers coming down towards a point, that if trends continue, will also see them in a position for some more restrictions to be lifted in the coming weeks.

Elsewhere, as the world's case number peaks after a slight respite, other countries are again preparing to go (or go back) into various levels of lockdown, a reasonable number after seemingly opening up hastily. Meanwhile, today, the death toll in arguably the worst affected advanced country passed the 200k mark according to the following common information, with a death rate of 2.95% of all confirmed cases (nearly 5% of those resolved), which one would expect to settle at slightly above three percent once the thousands of those amongst the already diagnosed current cases pass away in the coming weeks and others closed.

To all Victorians especially Melbournians, bad news today with those 5 families breaking the visitation and 5km rule thereby causing a cluster of 34 to date. Rather than printing community newsletters, a good dose of penal servitude with hard labour is more incentive to abide by the law.

Queenslanders have a shock coming .. this virus is not going away anytime soon ... THE population of NSW are showing how to deal with this we have to live with it ! Queensland is not going to be able to hide from it for to much longer as there scorched earth policies will totally bankrupt the state !
Time for Queenslanders to face reality as the virus will be coming !
