What do u guys think about playing in empty stadiums?

I would prefer they sell only 10% of tickets and make people sit 10 seats apart.
The eels could struggle without a big home crowd pushing them?

Sell 20%, give away every 20th seat. If 9/10 people who usually attend games were to decide that until this pandemic blows over they needed to roll out the apocalypse planning then the game could really be at the mercy of our economy into the future and it’s not looking great atm.

Really hope some of the comments in this thread are uninformed or at the very least needing to be taken with a grain of salt. Thanks, mate, safe!

I think it's a likely scenario.

As much as I hate unnecessary hysteria, a stadium does seem like one place that the virus could spread rapidly.

What's more interesting is the financial impact on clubs.

No ticket or corporate game day revenue, no gameday merch sales, possible refunds to members.

It would be pretty devastating to most clubs. You'd hope the NRL are planning for this.

So play at Homebush. Everyone always sits 10 seats apart

People severely underestimate the crippling effect on the economy and mass unemployment this disease could cause not only in Australia but worldwide.

A country like Australia that relies so much on tourism could be in big trouble. Unemployment of 15-20% is a real possibility in a year's time if trends don't start improving.

Even toilet paper companies are going to be losing a lot of money if morons keep hoarding. It's already going to cost kimberley clark a fortune in all this sudden overtime and future sales rapidly diminishing!

On train to Wynyard at the moment. Some one is coughing down the back.....

Nervous

Just as well we dont live in the land of the stupid or someone would pull out a gun, claim the 2nd ammendment and the right to defend themselves and shoot them.
That scenario is hopefully never going to happen but with thise armed nut jobs over there it is not impossible

We don't live in the land of the stupid?

Than what do you call all those people buying up all the dunny rolls

They are lemmings and panic buyers and we have already had at least one moron stab someone out parra way.If they are armed with guns think how much dangerous it would be

if people were serious they'd be stocking up on bottled water, but as you know the sheep are not buying that...

Tinned goods as well

when i was living in Tokyo few years back and the tsunami hit i recall people going crazy at the supermarket and the first things they bought were canned goods and water. As i recall no one bought toilet paper...

They all have bidets so not surprising.

Yes toilet paper is very much a western nation essential. It’s not really high on the list of priorities of many other countries, that use alternative methods. I remember being in India in the early 1990’s and it was a very rare product then, we actually had to bring our own with us!

That said, having been back there in more recent years, I noticed that toilet paper had become a lot more common now, though still not essential like it apparently is here.

Not just tourism, global trade has virtually ground to a halt.

I honestly can't see the difference between going to a stadium or catching the train to work. You are going to come into close contact with several people and moderate contact with thousands of people.

So by all means don't go to the football, but if so, generally stay out of town anyway.

Agree, the risk always exists, but I guess the theory would be to limit non-essential group gatherings to reduce the likelihood of infection. Catching a train to work would be essential to most.

Well, well! I work from home, so getting out to the footy is essential to me!!

Wish I had the same luxury. Although expected to work from home, still expected to be at work as well.
