Paws and Mike, I agree with your thinking, but unfortunately I can't see that happening as it would only expose domestic travelers to possible infection from those travelers returning from overseas.

Possibly but you could have only OS transit domestic flights. ie only OS travellers on those flights.

I agree with you on principle, but the other thing I think is that at the moment, IMO NSW has the gold standard on quarantine, testing and tracing, other states, particularly Vic have been shown up as potentially flawed. Increasing numbers to these states could potentially raise the risk of uncontrolled outbreaks,

As much as I agree it is unfair that NSW carries the burden, it might be better for the country because they are doing the best job (and yes other states should appreciate that rather than point fingers)

Other states are only too quick to shut up their borders when someone in NSW sneezes.

To me, what this really demonstrates is the complete lack of confidence in their own contact tracing capabilities and their ability to deal with the smallest of out breaks.

Yes that is what I have always thought as well. No confidence in their own internal systems at all.

Here is an interesting statistic. I just checked the total deaths for COVID which is estimated now at 1,852,115. It's pretty bad.

I started reading a book on the pandemic of the Spanish Flu in 1918. The population must have been less than today but the estimated deaths was between 20 and 100 million people.

I’ll just leave this stat here... Though only looking at deaths is very binary and doesn’t take into account morbidity.

NSW 56 deaths - 63% of overseas returns.
Victoria 820 - 11.9% of overseas returns

But would the Princess numbers be classed as oversea's returns ??

The Acting Premier today made a good suggestion that returning Australians arrive in Sydney and immediately catch flights to their home States to quarantine. The WA Premier did not like this at all and suggested it wasn't acting in the National interest! I think what he meant was it would expose WA, Qld, Vic; SA and Tas to much grearer risk of Covid. I would like this suggestion implemented immediately.

Issue is you then expose all the people on that flight to the risk of catching the virus.

Capacity is about 3000, so a small percentage in the overall numbers.

You could have transit only flights. They don't have to mix with normal domestic passengers.

How many people do you think are flying into Sydney from each state on each international flight? I doubt that idea is feasible.

Make the home State pay for the flights, then I don't care what the numbers are.

I know I am being unrealistic and unreasonable but I am being about as realistic and reasonable as some of the finger pointing Premiers are right now.

Mate, I agree with the finger pointing. To be honest I would prefer NSW to handle it as I don't trust the systems other states have in place.
