1 & 4. Poor contract racing and testing resumes and a week health dept means the only response Queensland can do it shut everything down. The sledgehammer.
Really? Compared to which state or system? Stats?
2) Yes the rich and AFL debacle of these entitled freely moving around in luxury hotels while dying Queenslanders are stuck in the hotel rooms.
Liberal biased press has you hook, line and brainwashing. Don't tell me the cricket teams that are currently in NSW don't have similiar fredom. Also, wjhy is it India is jacking up re restricions in QLD? Mght be because they are more stringent than the gunho NSW ones - dollar uber alles!

3) Jobkeeper is keeping Queensland afloat. It will end soon. Moneycheck has destroyed the Queensland economy with unnecessary border closures.
JobKeeper is creating a false sense of security in all states. It's discriminatory against certain industry sectors, company size and the unemployed who have lost their jobs because of COVID-19. Classic Liberal Lifters vs Leaners rhetoris and discrimination.
Wait until the Liberals pull it from under the feet of eveyone and see how we go across the country.
Further, like any other state QLDers are spending their holidays in their stae and supporting their economies - once again, the money-grubbers are the ones complaining about losses while they gouge as much as they can.
5) Its a joke they have locked down the Greater Brisbane area, while a huge amount of it citizens escaped, they were not going home.
99.9 pecent of people I know are going nowhere. Take your NSW glasses off, you've fallen for the rhetoric and sensationalist press.

The Queensland response to Covid19 has been extremely poor throughout the pandemic.
Really? The stats may tell you otherwise - you're bailing a sinking ship.
Sats from a simple search - first number cases/ second recovered/ third deaths - methinks one state may be a little ahead of the other two above it (yes, higher numbers than others - but put this in perspective to your argument):

Other states - keeping any outbreak under control using a specific targeted response to any outbreak.
QLD has adjusted as needed. QLD border restrictions changed plenty over time; contact tracing evolved as needed. Put this lockdown into place immediately as need was urgent with the Pommy strain - blanket approach and no change, really?

QLD, like any state, has its many faults - over reliance on coal and minerals, for example, but having moved here out of economic need 20 odd years ago from NSW and having lived in Sydney and the Gong most of my life I can 100 percent state I have found it a great place to live - people are friendly, the lifestyle more laidback, education system was fantastic for my kids, people covered automatically for ambulance (through their water rates), traffic in Brisbane less crowded in general just to name a few.
I intend to move back to NSW next year to retire but that won't happen if NSW doesn't get its act together and start thinking of its people more than the money.

Enjoy your fantasy house of cards world up there in Queensland and your JobKeeper and the $1.049 GST revenue while it lasts because reality is about to come crashing down around you.

NSW is thinking of people and how to survive in a pandemic world. Elimination is not a viable strategy unless you are prepared to stop all overseas arrivals. Breaches will always happen around perimeter defences, they are maintained by humans after all and humans make mistakes.

Don’t forget that NSW is doing the heaving lifting here taking well over 50% of all returned travellers and the associated flight crews.

I truly hope Covid19 is contained and is not widespread in Queensland because the Queensland govt and the Queensland department of health have absolutely no idea what to do if its not.

I found it interesting the advice from Kerry Chant that the family of 4 from South Africa with the SA strain of the virus are in the special Covid hospital. All paasengers on that flight are also in the Covid hospital as a precaution. Singapore Airlines have been notified to test and isolate the flight crew.

How can this possibly be sustained?

This special Covid accommodation has been in use since the beginning of the hotel Quarantine.

hard to believe she got voted back in

Now Queenslanders will see if she has the right stuff .. hope she has !

Because Gladys is just killing it ...you worry about your Premier let us worry about our Premier

They don't have a premier - they have Scomo's puppet. All she's interested in is the grubby cash, having relationships with other corrupt politicians, protecting business interests, pork-barelling without andy accountability, and whinging about others who don't do what she wants.
I am from NSW but live in QLD - 1,000,000 percent Ana has done a better job than Berejokelian.

Yeah, no.. Annastacia Moneyszczuk only has a sledgehammer in the toolbox, which of course can be circumvented if you are rich or will bring money into Queensland (the disgusting AFL debacle). Queensland is surviving on handouts that will end soon. It is a basket case and unnecessary so. Perimeter defences will be breached and at an increasing rate. The poor systems in Queensland for contact tracing, dept of health and the total disregard by its citizens of the health of others, as could be seen by the mass exodus of greater Brisbane before the 6pm deadline, show the real disregard to the overall well being of Queenslanders.

Mass exodos ...its school holidays and any given Friday you'd have that much traffic easily heading to the Sunny Coast or the gold coast .....and 2ndly everything is booked solid ...I was supposed to be taking a week off from the 10th -17th ..we weren't sureb if we were taking the dog and the place we had put a hold on booked it out ...when I did a bit of a search I was dreaming ...nothing was available

No way you were going to find accomodation anywhere South of Mackay

Not an issue at all. The issue is sitting safely behind closed borders and letting others take the economic load and the physical risk while hypocritical pointing fingers at those that do and then saying we are so much better than you. Pfffft

I cancelled my week away in regional NSW due to Covid and not wanting to take it up there. Wouldn't people have done that in QLD?

Clearly they won’t.

You really need to get off whatever it is you are on. It's skewing your ability to see reality. 🙂

It’s not me that’s skewing reality. Many irresponsible now ex friends have done exactly what I have stated.

Do you remember Dr Chant highlighting that NB residents isolating were Covid positive on 11th day onwards and therefore it was important that they do the full 14 days isolation? I wrote at the time she did this for a reason.

Today the SMH reports a oseas traveller after quarantining in Vic tested positive to the UK virus on arrival in Brisbane after travelling on a Melb to Bne flight. She isolated for only. 10 days! What are Vic authorities doing?

You do realize that Dr Brendan Nelson has fully supported Qld's reaction as has Sco Mo

Not an issue at all. The issue is sitting safely behind closed borders and letting others take the economic load and the physical risk while hypocritical pointing fingers at those that do and then saying we are so much better than you. Pfffft

Haven't you been following the Covid Shield points table ....semis just round the corner mate

From what was said this morning it wasn't originally picked up as the UK strain until after .....could be wrong

As I Queensland resident, I am mortified at the way this covid and many other things have been handled.

The back and forth from the premier, and the sudden 'disappearance' of the Qld Health Doctor 14 days before the election was not by accident.

Then, this latest shutdown (of which I am a part, but happy to comply) is strange in that I am an easy 90 minute drive from the hotspot locations (I'm on the northside and the hotspot locations are mainly southside, Sunnybank, Algester etc), yet the Gold Coast council is only a 20 minute drive, but that isn't included. I would think many would be holidaying there and so extra reason for it to be included.

..... or is it the fact that the magic millions horse carnival is on, along with other prominent festivities that we couldn't possibly cancel or postpone......that makes me very suspicious.

Health or convenient politics.?

Took the opportunity to possibly spread Covid19 far and wide across Queensland by leaving the greater Brisbane area while they could without regard of the consequences. I’ll be right Jack, not at all in the spirit of keeping Queensland safe. So my personal experience is that they clearly won’t cancel their time away from greater Brisbane if they can get away with it and be damn the with consequences.

It’s not a conspiracy theory mate.

That article isn't scientific. You have also not responded to my point. You aren't talking to the issue. No one is stopping any sort of forward movement in the treatment of this virus.

You believe that people are stopping a cure or a way forward. I do not believe this. All I am stating is that we need to follow the scientific method which means conducting robust testing and not just believing there is an easy solution with no proof.

Myself and I think most people in the world will accept any solution to COVID. Why do you believe people aren't willing to accept any solution to COVID. I'd like you to answer that question because that is what you are stating. Your premise is that a solution is not being considered when I'm stating any viable solution will be considered. Why do you believe your premise ? It sounds like a conspiracy theory - i.e. something you believe with no facts to back you up.

No it’s not a scientific article, but that wasn’t my point. You accused me of believing a conspiracy theory and here was the doctor, who’s theory I believe in, being quoted as saying how disappointed he was to have his work politicised and he be branded a conspiracy theorist when it just wasn’t true! Hence, I’m not believing a conspiracy theory, there is loads of research done on Ivermectin (a drug which the clinical evidence shows is not statistically effective) and it’s positive effects on patients with Covid, if you care to look. How hard is that to understand?

My belief that Ivermectin (a drug which the clinical evidence shows is not statistically effective), as a possible solution, not (yet) being considered by the NIH still stands because well...up to the present day it hasn’t been! More to the point, I can’t understand why people, such as yourself, are so up in arms about me believing peer reviewed research that there might just be a better, cheaper and faster alternative to the vaccine in protecting us all against Covid. Anyone would think I just declared my allegiance to the Nazi Party or something!

Point me to the peer reviewed research please. I’d be interested in reading the reviews.

Tiger5150 has already done that, but everyone has conveniently ignored his posts.

You aren't getting it. The testing didn't pass acceptable limits.

I'll try and explain this to you. They try and have rigorous standards and still heaps of poor science occurs. That is the nature of science. When it's clearly poor - i.e. they don't have control groups or anything like that and it's been rejected as being poor science it is not a good idea to make out that it is somehow good science. That was not a study that met acceptable standards and stuff that meets acceptable standards can be wrong.

To follow up, here is a clearing house of peer reviewed scientific studies on Ivermectin (a drug which the clinical evidence shows is not statistically effective) efficacy with COVID. Over 50 peer reviewed published and pre-print scientific studies. Which of these do not meet "acceptable standards".
