Really hard to believe that the definition of an essential worker in NSW is still worked out between an employer and employee.

What the hell!

I would think all small business owners would classify themselves and their employees essential.

Therein lies the problem, of which I am almost certain you are in agreement.

I agree. But I also recognise why these businesses will try to stay open. That's why it's imperative that support is on hand for small business owners and people who are forced into unemployment. I am quite sympathetic to small business owners during this crisis. They lose out while TNCs get richer.

Jealous! I would love to live somewhere where you could wake up to snow.

It's snowed here since we moved in but it all happened when I was at work lol. It started snowing something like 10-15 minutes after I left.

For sure and hopefully more measures are announced today.

As similar rolling lockdowns had been allowed for in the May national budget, it is ridiculous that policy is still being carried out on the run, instead of agreed to and planned at the end of March when measures lapsed.

To anybody out there that is struggling hand to mouth after not being included in the inadequate provisions thus far, I acknowledge your pain.

People are also saying the fines are easy fought because they have no standing when you take them to court. Is this true?

Dont "confuse easy to fight" with "easy to win".I would think you have very little chance in a court

Now that just about everybody else has done so, the head of the WHO has also now reversed his rhetoric on the lab leak origin:

“There was a premature push [to rule out that theory],” he said. The WHO chief, who is an immunologist, stressed that he himself had previously worked as a lab technician, “and lab accidents happen”.

“It’s common. I have seen it happening,” he said, stressing that “checking what happened, especially in our labs, is important”.

“We need information, direct information on what the situation of these labs was before, at the start of the pandemic.”

I find it disgusting that this very plausible theory on the origin of the most damaging global pandemic in a century, was so ferociously smeared and censored as an 'extremist conspiracy theory' for so long.

Plenty of people who should have known better participated in this for political reasons.

No doubt there was a political edge to it. Though for mine as it was being utilised as a political weapon, rightly or wrongly, there were reasons for trying to moderate it's use.

We will probably never conclusively know one way or the other.

Whereabouts are you ?

I got my second Pfizer this week. No problems at all.

I thought I had some neck aches, but it was just from my teenage kids spear tackling me onto the couch.

Do you think it's coincidence that this "change of mind" comes following USA re-engagement with WHO?

I feel that the problem with walking away from global institutions is that you forfeit the ability to influence views and outcomes. I'll bet that the Chinese were using every diplomatic option available to influence WHO. The USA, thanks to Donald, would have had zero influence at the time.

So, I guess that's politics isn't it?

The lab theory definitely has legs, but without co-operation from China we're never going to get absolute certainty.

I hope you guys up in NSW all keep your heads down and stay fit and healthy.

Agree we'll probably never know for certain now. And I agree that disengagement from multilateral institutions means you lose your voice.

From the WHO's perspective it shouldn't have mattered, they shouldn't be influenced by political lobbyists from anywhere, be it Beijing or Washington.

I think in the media there was a fear of speaking about something that might be seen to have been in line with a Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon talking point, which again is quite a sad state of affairs. It seems like on this issue the deal is, 'ok Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's been voted out, now we can say what we really think'. But now it is pretty much useless to call for further investigation because there has been so much time to wipe away evidence.

Police to monitor all 'major arterial roads out of Sydney' in compliance crackdown. The crackdown will come into effect over the next 72 hours and last until Monday at least.

From about Hazelbook upwards, there's dozens of great walks. A couple you can bring your leashed dog along on as well as they are state parks rather than national parks.
