I'm sure people will push the limit and see what they can get away with it.
But I expect some people still have things to do and won't be staying home.

I was out for work, so did a trip around Sydney. The business I manage delivers to a lot of the medical science labs. It was very quiet everywhere.

That's positive.

I was out and about today and it crossed my mind....

Yeah Covid seems to be the least likely cause. We’ll have to wait for an autopsy to know for sure.

Whilst we in Greater Sydney are well into our fourth week of lockdown that may run into spring, Victoria likely extending until at least the weekend and SA joining to have half the nation's lives upended, along with issues in other states, let us remember that this should not be the case.

It is ridiculous that despite numerous requests from the states, our federal government and notwithstanding their own internal recommendations of around October last year, still have only a single suitable federal facility operating in the NT and that has us still waiting an extension operating there to accept larger numbers.

My thoughts go to the friends and family of the 5 people that have lost their lives thus far in this and all of those currently suffering.

I can recall reading a (chilling) article from a NYC paramedic very early into the pandemic - just into their 'first wave'. Lots of people around that age bracket dropped dead suddenly at home due to cardiac arrest within a few days of contracting the virus.

Extremely low (near zero) chances of surviving that (cardiac arrest) outside a hospital unless you're next to a defibrillator and have someone there able to use it, and even then poor outcomes can be expected.

Terrible situation all round, and sympathies to the young blokes (yes I acknowledge they did the wrong thing) who've lost their mum unexpectedly.

Total and utter failure by the Feds. Any anger I have about the current situation is directed at them. We could have easily built a fit for purpose quarantine station buy now in addition to the one in NT. Alice Springs would be an ideal location, Airport, hospital and workforce away from the CBDs of the most populace cities in the country.

But but but Gladys is GOLD standard just ask the "liar from the shire".Sooner or later his lies/ misdirections will be exposed on all his failings,the Glasgow conferance on climate change later this year could expose this charlatan completely though i have no doubt his owners in the Murdoch media will cover his rear end as well they can.it will be interesting to see how the fact that we as a nation pay more taxes and tariffs to export to rest of the world than anybody else will be painted by him and his backers(reason is lack of action on climate change).

Was chatting on messenger with a mate and fellow WT supporter that moved up your way earlier in the year as reading this and welcoming him to the lockdown club.

Politics filters into just about everything and sadly even more so in saturating the delaying the decision of what needed to be done in the eastern suburbs a month or so ago.

It is devastating many in what should have long been a well insulated country to see so many in their nation join the growing list of unnecessary victims.

We can beat this latest outbreak, but it’ll just happen again and again and again. Band aid fixes don’t work.

Everyone should be given a date and a military op done to bring the last of them home, purpose built facilities in the middle of nowhere built for quarantine. If they wanna stay overseas and work or whatever their doing…good for them, but I’m bloody over it.

I was made redundant last year because of it. I set up my own business in January, invested most of our savings into equipment and just been told I’m not eligible for any current business support packages because they don’t exist in NSW for newly established businesses.

I cannot agree with all of this, though I understand the general sentiment and the devastating impact on your life for such a long period now and that is still occurring.

Back to reality.

1. You can't shut the country down completely.
2. We vaccinate. We let it rip. People will die but it will save the vast majority of people. The ones who choose not to vaccinate will suffer from this much more than they need too but that is the cost of letting people make their own decisions.

It would have been good to have some special quarantine facility but the reality is we've kept it until control up until the home run and it's only the delta strain that is really giving it to us. I think by Christmas we will probably be in the let it rip phase.

No, not at all. Probably a couple of years until an approved formula could be developed. Big pharma are just lapping this up. People have suggested alternative treatments on this forum alone. There’s other avenues that could be explored outside of Pfizer and AZ.

What’s your suggestion? Get unapproved vaccinations, hope for the best? Open the world up and let it rip? Let the economy completely crash over and over again until we figure out the current methods don’t work? Kill a couple of hundred thousand people in the meantime? Make millions sick?

I’d rather be stuck safe in Australia forever, then have to live a life of lockdowns and restrictions or see anyone in my family suffer or die from Covid.

The aboriginals did it for thousands of years. Maybe we should take a leaf out of their book. We’re safe here and there’s no need to keep letting the country suffer right now.
