Can’t wait to get my vaccinations finished so I can spend time with Garners Grandma as well.

When he goes to hug her, he probably misses her as well. Just sticks out an arm.

Delta reduces RNA vaccine effectiveness

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/latest-news/messenger-rna-covid-vaccines-66-effective-against-delta-us-study/news-story/a77dd989ef021acfef3e80ae705be9be

Perfect example.

The efficacy of the vaccine has not changed. The disease has. The vaccine remains 91% effective against the alpha variant, it is unchanged. It is less effective (67% in this article, 88% according to New England Journal of Medicine) against the Delta variant.

EDIT: @the_third I want to make it clear, Im not disagreeing with you, of course the vaccine isnt as effective against the Delta, Ive posted many times scientific studies showing this. I am making an assumption that you posted this after I said to Earl he was wrong about vaccine efficacy declining in Israel. Earl was making the point that the *Pfizer* vaccine *in itself* had stopped working and the efficacy of the *Pfizer vaccine itself* was declining in Israel. Simply not true, Delta became the dominant variant.

Allgood @Tiger5150. Completely agree with what you are saying around the virus changing - that’s what they do. Hopefully we catch a break with the next mutation.

So after months of encouraging everyone to go and get tested, now they're doing the reverse and saying only get tested if you have to? The confusing messaging continues.

This was Dr Chant and she is right. We have to accept the health care system is under pressure. If you don't have symptoms and you aren't a contact then don't get tested.

Did you watch the press conference. Dr Chant was making everything pretty clear and she doesn't give a ... about playing politics. It's all about the health care system now. They have different people in the health care system giving different messages. They do a lot better job than the politicians in explaining the situation.

If that's the biggest problem in your life, you're not doing too bad.

It's a good message from the health care system. It's not a labour vs liberal thing. It's pretty clear health are driving the situation right now which is good because they are under a lot of pressure and it could get a lot worse.

Fair enough. It definitely is a change in message but for obvious reasons I guess. The last thing we want or need is people testing positive but taking days to find out.

Yeah I get the reasons for it, but hopefully it doesn't mean people who possibly have covid but only minor symptoms don't bother getting a test.

This is why we should try not to stress out the health care system. My dad has been really sick. It's cool he is getting old. He went to hospital the other night and they didn't admit him because they had COVID patients and they didn't want to risk his health.

A while back one of their friends didn't go to hospital because they were worried about COVID and they died.

One of the big problems with COVID is that people will other issues won't get the care they require.

I can't wait until this is over. Hopefully we are still here.

A big thank you to all our health care professionals looking after all the Covid patients. Many seem to forget you put your own health and lives at risk everyday. I'll do my bit by washing my hands, keeping a distance, wearing a mask and staying safe at home.

I still remember the crew of the Ruby Princess with the thank you Illawarra banner on the stern.

My wife is a frontline health worker, it is tough at the moment. She is coming home stressed, worried and in tears most days. She isn't directly on a covid ward but works in rehab with a lot of vunerable patients so is feeling the strain of providing them with the service they need while protecting them from the virus in a hospital that has multiple outbreaks. The resources are definitely strained already and will only get worse as numbers rise.

Let your missus know how much the community appreciates her effort.

You may have met her at one of the Ambush events, she is in a pretty good mood tonight as they received a big basket of goodies today from local businesses. The signs of appreciation are critical at the moment to keep morale high. Thanks to everyone for the support.

my wife is a respiratory physio she rigs up the ventilators for ICU etc through different districts in Sydney at the moment.
Scary times ahead if we dont get this under control some of the resources are severely strained at a few hospitals at present
