With NSW Health advising Newcastle residents to seriously consider postponing Christmas gatherings, this is a pretty serious situation. Are they to be postponed until everyone has a booster? Compounding the situation is the easing of restrictions in NSW. The message is not clear!

Also, as only double vaccinated clients were allowed into the nightclub in Newcastle where the even occurred, being vaccinated has not stopped infection or transmission it seems.

Some people seem to think that it is simply "party time", yet one of those that wants to party at the expense of the community decided that a directive to isolate shouldn't hamper their desires.

A very selfish action to then go to possibly the most transmissive environment of a nightclub and expose many hundreds to the virus, who in turn have since exposed many more vulnerable people to it.

Such attitude is disgusting.

The $10K fine is a joke, should be jail time for disregarding the isolation directive.

Saying you didn't know that you were Covid positive at the time just doesn't cut it.

This is fascinating. It's a vaccinologist from South Africa stating that this variant peaks really quickly. It's already going down in some provinces. He is also stating that this variant may be just as virulent as previous variants. The difference is immunity from vaccination and/or contracting the virus. So basically we've vaccinated our way out of severe disease. I hope he is right because it's good news.

He is stating don't panic with the increased case numbers so long as hospital numbers stay reasonable.

Yes I am double vaccinated. Being double vaccinated does not prevent the acquiring of the disease nor does it prevent transmission. The washing of hands, distancing and the wearing of masks are simple but effective means of reducing the risk of transmission.

I don't want to see businesses destroyed or lives ruined when transmission can be reduced. That is all.

Mortality rate aside, the key number that matters is ICU numbers. Out of the 8000+ cases for NSW in Dec only an AVG of 25 people have remained in ICU. This has come down significantly over the past few months where we had over 300 in ICU in Sept.

It sure did. Yet some people will argue otherwise. Hopefully Omicron will become the dominate strain, remains mild and eradicates other strains.
The 5-11 year old vaccine will be available soon, will be interesting to see the take up numbers.

So my question is how do we get out of this never ending circle, because unless these companies come up with vaccine that kills this virus ( and why would they do that there making millions) it is never going to end . We are so worried about the unvaccinated getting the virus and taking up hospital beds that the rest of us will be denied our freedom in many ways . I feel so sorry for my kids and grandkids that they may never live the life fee that we had before this virus.
