Similar to the concerns that I have and mainly that the virus can stay with people a lot longer than the common 14 day quarantine period.

Gene, a guy I occassionaly chat with over the years on audio from Florida in the US contracted the virus on 28 February. He was initially confirmed as being positive on 4 March and continually testing positive until at least 31 March. He received his first negative result from his 7 April test and had to wait until the 13th, to finally return to his family from isolation the following day upon a second negative.

That is 33 days at best on 1 April and possibly up to 38 days infected, as he was potentially still positive on 6 April. I think that I have a shot of some of his test results on my phone, so will have a look and add to this post if I have.

Yeah, it's a huge concern and that is why I thought that I would put a personal knowledge and connection to it, as it may carry more weight than just another article.

Yeah, just supporting what you said with a bit of research mate. Just didn't want people to dismiss your post because they viewed as anecdotal, what you were saying has shown up in research.

Biosecurity declarations made by Ruby Princess stated that no one on board had been exhibiting symptoms of the Coronavirus.

The ships Dr failed to update a declaration listing passengers who were ill until the day after passengers disembarked.

The ships officer in charge of the hotek had no contact with ABF.
.

Like the virus, my updates are running out of steam. Mehh day yesterday, 13 new cases and multiplier at 1.002. Hard to kill it off I guess.

Im so grateful for our situation in Australia compared to the rest of the world, but I feel frustration that we are so close to putting this to bed but cant quite which opens up other issues and risks as people understandably and necessarily need to get back into it.

Well I guess the question is this ...what are the experts / politicians looking for before they start relaxing restrictions

1 week COVID free
2 weeks 2 Covid free

Interesting that NSW Health deemed it necessary to do an onboard assessment the previous time the Ruby docked but not 2 weeks later!

It really seems to be

1. High level testing
2. Ability to aggressively chase down contacts to break the infection chain
3. A prepared health system to deal with any cluster outbreak.

Once we have these in place restrictions will be eased!

I can't see overseas travel until we have a worldwide vaccine and that will be yonks away

Agreed 100%, except maybe for New Zealand. International travel will be the last thing to come back. In all likelihood the only things we are going to see eased soon is a slight lifting on the number of people that can gather together.

The beach was beautiful again today, thanks to everyone who didn't go.
I think I may have infected 2 people though, they came within at least 25m of me.

You know some beaches are open for exercise right?

You might want to explain that to a few on here,
who thought I was putting people's lives at risk by going for a surf.
Despite not even knowing where I live or what beach I go to.

Is there an "in joke" I missed?

About a week ago, old mate a few posts up, bragged how he was going to the beach, saying it was fine, despite beaches not being open. But now they have been opened, so going to the beach for exercise is no different than going to Coles. Which makes me wonder why he was throwing bait out there for something the Governmen gave people permission to do in the last week. He”s obeying the law ?‍♂️

Wrong!!

Please tell me how you know that the beach I go to isn't/wasn't open, when you don't even know what beach I go to?

I'm really interested how you know this

Had nothing to do with that and you know it! You stated you wouldn't follow rules that you didn't agree with and the restrictions put in place were an overreaction and anyone following them were following their overlords! Then you gutlessly backtracked when called out and stated that you were socially distancing because you care about other people, after implying anyone who followed the rules were doing so because of the government overlords.

Don't try to change what happened, it makes you look foolish!

He was always obeying the law, tried big noting himself and claimed everyone was listening to their overloads and the restrictions were an overreaction, that he wouldn't follow their laws. When people called him on it he backed down and said he was following social distancing because he cares about people but everyone else was because of the overlords!

Wrong!

I said I won't follow laws that are unjust.

I also said that I'm not going to stop going to the beach just because of a virus and especially while I'm still allowed to go to Bunnings, BCF, JBhifi, Kmart etc where I'm in closer proximity to people than I am if I'm at the beach.

I also said many times, if they want to fine me for going to the beach (where I'm more distanced) than I am at JBhifi, then that law is unjust and I won't follow it.

But you guys can just do as you're told.

Just claiming that people had a go it solely because he said he went to the beach, when his beach wasn't closed. It just needs to be pointed out that he was carrying on with a lot more rubbish than that. People like yourself who disagreed with him deserve the truth to be put forward!
