I've had my credit card details taken and $15000 ran up on my card.

By who?

No idea, the bank wouldn't tell me.

Stuff like that happens. It doesn’t mean it was a corporation or Government. Could be a computer savvy nerd living in his mums basement.

What do the conspiracy theorists actually think the government is going to do to you if you download the app?

My concern isn't really with the app, why should our government be storing data that they collect on us on server in another country that can not be protected by our legal system? This is not just the data from this app, this would be the data on things like mygov etc.

Then take the privacy issue out of it for a moment, at this point in time while our economy is falling, why would we send a contract like this overseas instead of supporting our own businesses?

Where is the data being stored? Which country?

By Amazon

Checking further Amazon may have to store on servers here.

They do, which is why I'm not particularly bothered.

On Amazon you can specify which region your data is stored. They have a hub in Australia so you can specify Australia as the region. My understanding is that govt cloud services must specify Australia as the storage location. To specify anything else I believe breaches the privacy legislation.

I note that the UK has added some of their previously unaccounted for deaths to their totals today, which takes them to the third worst number of lives lost and likely to surpass Italy very soon as well.

Whilst I expect that the true numbers from China would be up around the top, those numbers, like those of the US, the UK's are also terrible considering they both had the huge advantage of being able observe and act on the knowledge of others on the list around them that were hit by the virus earlier. Boris Johnson is probably lucky to have caught the virus for the sympathy it brings, plus the birth of his child at this time, else he would be copping plenty from both the public and press already, with worse to come as their deaths continue in coming weeks.

The UK has nearly been as much as a failure as the USA but that is hardly suprising looking at the 2 leaders. We will never get anything close to accurate figures from countries with totalitarian governments (China Russia North Korea)just to name a few.
Governments of all political persuasions hate to admit they get it wrong but are quick to give themselves praise if they fluke getting it right

UK nearly as much as a failure as the US? The US has half the deaths per capita that the UK does.

UK population density: 281 people per km2
US population density: 36 people per km2

~7.8 times the population density...

NY City Population density, 25846/km2 and accounts for 1/3 of total US cases and deaths.

That is the population density of Manhattan, not New York City. Manhattan does not account for 1/3 of all US cases. In any event, that just reinforces the point that higher population density creates more problems (of which I'm sure you're aware), which was the point I was making in the first place.

No worries. The AWS Sydney hub has been up and running since 2012. There are at least two others now in Australia.

Correct.

You have to love those fire arm wielding bogans in Michigan protesting the right to infect others. Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon will probably be re-elected with the support of these types.

The govt really copped it with the 2011 floods and what happened at Grantham and leaving it so late to empty Wivenhoe Dam

You Qlders are jumping the gun by heading out to picnics prior to the start of festivities tonight.

Mind you if it is true we still have 700 unresolved cases in NSW we deserve to be in lockdown for months.

Funnily enough the bigger challenge will be the weather change coming through ....it was 23 degrees at 1.00 am this morning ...tonight is supposed to get to about 12 degrees ...people in Gladstone will look like Eskimos tomorrow lol

It’s not conspiracy theories mate . Do some research on it , and you will see , much like conspiracy theories of yesterday past like , Wiki leaks , Mk-ultra , this is actually true . There was a whole inquiry into Facebook last year , where amongst other things , they admitted to the nefarious use of data , and on selling to allow a foreign power to influence an election . From Huawei being caught putting spyware , I their systems (they are a huge telco systems provider worldwide ) even to wiki leaks themselves . There’s multiple easily accessed podcasts from people like Sam Harris to Jordan Peterson , to Joe Rogan , interviewing security Experts and former CIA, Facebook , Google employees , all basically saying the same thing . Your data is being sold , and on sold and sometimes to people you don’t want to have it . You can take the “well they already know everything about you stance “ which is fine , but if you dont want to give it , that’s the end .
As for examples of ways your data can be misused , I already gave that a few posts ago.

Hmm, maybe I'm ignorant or perhaps desensitized thanks to work but none of that actually bothers me. It hasn't affected the way I live my life one iota.

Me either , I’m just stating that this is facts , and anyone who thinks we are slowly eroding our freedom because of it , kinda has a good point .
That’s all I’m saying . This stuffhappens .
Just digressing for a Sec , there’s a book out there , about the fact that basically the Manson Family was a dry run of Mk Ultra . It’s so crazy, but the guy actually has evidence about the fact Charles Manson Psychiatrist was in charge of the MK ultra program . And it’s not circumstantial either.
Tom O’Neil - Chaos .
If you can’t be bothered , listen to Joe Rogan podcast interview him .
My point is , a lot of this stuff is true , and that should give you pause for thought .

Let me guess we don't need ID's anymore to get into the Pub ...just flash the App

In Bunnings this afternoon the second wave of the Virus is not far off .. social distancing out the window . Enjoy your freedom as it will be short lived !
